More Snow!

Here is what the snow looked like last week in Gaylord. This is on the snowmobile path. Now check out the Snowman Cam and see how much snow there is now! The Snowman Cam is really neat - shows you real time views of the snow accumulation in our area and often times you can catch glimpses of deer, bear and wild turkey.

Approximately 4 inches have fallen today and another 2-4 inches is expected tomorrow. I imagine it will be slow driving once we get closer to our destination. We might do some downhill skiing this weekend as well as finish decorating the log cabin. I picked up a couple more Christmas trees.....Marvin the cat is excited at this development.

  1. Our newly wed daughter Laura and her husband Les have a kitten named "BEAR". I am sure he'll be climbing up the tree every chance he gets! The other day he used her forehead as a launching pad to jump from. He keeps trying to "play" with Laura's guinea pig, sticking his little paws into the bars of her cage. He's quite the character! I am definitely a cat persononly, I'm highly allergic!

  2. Here in the Adirondacks we still don't have much snow. What little arrived here at my house has since melted/evaporated,... only traces left. I hope we do get a white Christmas!

  5. I also noticed on the cam the temp is 20. Not bad, we are currently 23 here in Tennessee. In January1985 we were -20 with 2 feet of snow. Worse ever for TN. All the shrubs had to be cut to the ground in the spring before they would come back out. The people that didn't cut them back lost them. Luckily we haven't had another one of those.

  8. Loove the Snowman Cam. With that, we can enjoy snow here in Texas! We don't see much of the white stuff around here! Have a wonderful time at the cabin.

  9. People can record thier precipitation at CoCoRaHS.com. I noticed that there were 6 reports on 12/5 for Gaylord Michigan with snow amounts ranging from 9.5" to 11.1". These reports are from 7:00 AM on the 5th. So far for the 6th there are 3 reports with 0.9" to 1.6" of snow recorded. The snow is beautiful.

  11. we have quite a bit also and more coming...in fact its snowing now and it did last night--HUGE flakes--was very pretty. I love that web cam. I did the 24 hour part of it--and it was neat watching it get dark, and then the deer came out.

  13. Your log cabin looks so warm and inviting. I love your Christmas tree. (I think your cat does too).
Cute picture of you when you were 3 years old. Happy Birthday.
I am such a dork...somehow I kept getting to your other blog and not this one. I like it too, but this is the one where you write about the cabin and I somehow got all mixed up. I guess that is the CRS coming out.

  16. Once again, I am struck with an enormous amount of jealousy at all of the snow you'r receiving! We're getting a small dusting at the moment, and although it is nothing compared to what you have, I'm hoping it means Mother Nature heard my prayers and will be granting us a white Christmas this season. New England doesn't look right at this time of the year without snow - and lots of it!

  18. Shelley,

You have no idea how excited all that snow is to us southerners that rarely ever see the stuff! It's beautiful!

I did get to ride on a snowmobile one time on my cousin's in Indiana....and I'll never forget it!

    Enjoy your snow! :)
