Envying my neighbor

Try not to focus on that fallen tree in the lake. As some of you are aware, I'm very fascinated by my mysterious neighbors! (Remember the one that flashed her truck lights and decided to check out my cabin at midnight? Or the old man who used to scowl at us during construction? Or the lady across the lake who didn't return my call when I invited her over?) But I do have cool neighbors down the street that have goats and have told us to come "kick in" their door if we need anything. Now that's a neighbor!

Anyways, can you see what's tempting me in this photo? I want to climb that wooden tower, yell something (maybe yee haw!) and jump in the water! And afterwards I would love to swim to that raft and lounge around. Do you think this neighbor will let me? Or do you think they'll call the cops? (Greg, don't worry, I won't do this. Maybe. Maybe not. Get some bail money ready...)

  1. Ha ha ha! Yee haw???
    It's just not you.

And, yes I will come any time dear and help you with yard work. As long as we can sit and look at the lake sipping wine 50% of the time, LOL!

  2. Things are changing a bit on the lake, but not too many years ago the cabins were all left unlocked. If you needed to stop at one on the way down the lake because because of bad weather, you could get out of the elements. The only request was to leave things as they were and if you used any food replace it. This even extended to "borrowing" a propane tank if you ran out and needed some for a day or two before heading back to town. Now, most everyone locks their places. We don't have much vandalism or theft on the lake. It's almost like living in the 50's up here. I like it that way. - Margy

  5. Some of your neighbors are like people anywhere,... stuck up. And then some are like the rest of the folks,... solid gold. I like your solid gold neighbors with the goats and the welcoming attitude. Maybe the others will "warm up" this summer?

  20. Shelley, I would be right behind you. Coming from a big family we spent lots of time at the lake jumping off anything we could find to jump off including my Uncle's roof into his swimming pool. Sounds dangerous to me now...but not then.

  27. You certainly have interesting neighbors and the tower is intriguing. Are you sure you can resist the temptation? I'd say the chances are pretty good that we'll read about some adventure in a future posting. I can't wait.

  32. LOL! We are going to build a log cabin and laugh at the stories you tell ... the neighbor story hit home...we were blazing a trail on our property so that we knew exactly where the survey marks were and some guy from two lots over yelled over and wanted to know what our plans were...he proceeded to tell us horror stories of what some of the "newbies" from the area tried on their property and were promptly reprimanded in the "back woods" type of way....we told him we owned the property for 22 years and that we were only building a small weekend house, he calmed down and when he heard we knew the neighbor down the road that was also the town highway supervisor -- he invited us to dinner! LOL!
