Do you remember where you were on September 11, 2001? I do - I remember I was at work and saw the 2nd tower hit in real time at the t.v. at our office. It was at that moment I realized we were under attack and all of our lives would forever change.
Those images of people jumping from the burning building, the towers collapsing and seeing those dust covered people running still haunt me. My heart breaks for all those innocent lives lost to such a cowardly act. On this day, please remember those who were lost and those who continue to protect our freedoms in the United States.
Thanks for posting this Shelley! Not many people care to talk about it anymore. But I remember...how could you not. Especially if you watched it live...those images will haunt a lot of people for a long time.
ReplyDeleteNone of us will EVER forget that fateful day that changed America forever. However, we might get knocked down, but we don't stay down long! Praying for all those who lost loved ones in that horrific tragedy.

ReplyDeleteSeptember 11, 2001, is surreal for me. Betsy and I were on our honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean enjoying the beauty of St. Maartan. The enormity of 9/11 didn't really hit us until we got to a nearly deserted Atlanta airport patrolled by armed soldiers on the following Saturday.

ReplyDeleteI had just gotten home, my mom called me and told me to turn on the TV. I cried through the whole thing!

I remember vividly what I was doing at that moment. I was busy taking care of 2goodboys when my husband called and asked me to turn the tv on. Up to the moment that the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower I was unaware of what was happening in NYC. I stood in the middle of my kitchen in shock and The sense of fear for my country that was felt at that moment will forever be etched in my memory.

I received a call from a friend telling me to turn my tv on. When I did I couldn't believe my eyes. With me was a co-worker's son who was at my house to do some work on my computer. He'd just enlisted and was to leave for the army in a few days. I wondered what it would mean for him. I'm glad to say that after serving in Iraq he's now married and daddy to two babies. One of the lucky ones. Never forget.
ReplyDeleteI was at work and someone came in to tell us a plane had hit. We all ran into the conference room. I knew in my heart it was a terrorist attack even before we saw the second plane. Definitely one of those days in which we will never forget where we were and what we were doing.
ReplyDeleteYou are so correct that our lives were all changed forever. The terrorists had no idea how much this attack would affect our political and financial future.
we were building our house and living in a travel trailer with no electricity. When my mom finally got ahold of us later in the day and told us what had happened we didn't believe her at first. It was shocking. We promptly called a friend and went to his place to watch the TV. It was sad and is still shocking today.
