Saturday, in the park....

Do you remember that song? I'm probably dating myself here... Anyways, Greg and I love to visit the parks near our cabin. There's this small one in the city of Grayling, site of one of the largest canoe races in N. America. It's located right on the Ausable River.


Here's what it looks like right now...





And this is what it'll look like this winter! Hard to believe, huh?






Okay, sorry I scared you with that early winter scene! Back to present time. Here is Greg and Scout checking out the river from the bridge.





Look how fast that water is moving! There's over 180 miles of Blue Ribbon Trout Fishing here. Michiganders refer to it as the Holy Waters. Recently Forbes magazine named Grayling to their Top 10 List of Top Trout Fishing Towns.


Greg is a big fisherman and taught me to fly fish during our "courting" years. I think it cemented the deal for him to marry me once I was able to tie my own fly and cast my own rod. (But I'd make him take the fish off for me of course. No way was I touching that slimey fish! Ha!)

    Hi Shelley, Nalley and I were just admiring the beauty around Grayling UNTIL we got to the winter scene!!! Then, he remembered why he came south! Seriously, that is a beautiful park no matter what the season. Looks like a great place to get out with Scout and enjoy the day.

    me again...I forgot to say that I love that Chicago song! Reminds me of my jr. college days which were in the mountains of north GA which were quite magical in the Autumn of the year. Thanks for the memory.

    Beautiful area you have there, I love your photos. And the winter scene does not scare me at all..I can LOOK at that on my PC all day.

    You can cast a fly rod? You are some kind of wonderful. But we already knew that.

    What a gorgeous area you live in. I wish we lived near a stream or lake BUT then there are snakes & other critters, so that is out. Loved both seasons ... TY for sharing.

    A very pretty place!
    We woke up to FOUR INCHES of SNOW this morning here!!!
    Luckily it melted by 6 pm, but YIKES!!
    So, enjoy your colored leaves down there...the U.P. has lost them!

    Your photos are, once again, absolutely gorgeous. I would looove to spend a lot of time in that park throughout the fall season. What a perfect backdrop for a walk, a picnic and a visit. :)

    the pictures are beautiful! I especially like the one of Greg and Scout. I can imagine Scout saying... 'you look that way Daddy and I will look this way'. :)

    I remember that song too... Yes, I will admit it... I'm getting older... and better too! lol

    I remember that song too. Now I will be singing it in my head all day long. lol.
    The leaves on the trees are so pretty. What a neat park.
    My friend who lives in Michigan is trying to get me back there to visit. Some day I will. It sure looks beautiful.
