Finishing the Cabin Basement

We've had the cabin for almost three years now and we've finally reached the point to finish our walk-out basement. I'm looking forward to using it as additional entertaining space. Greg has visions of putting animal heads on the wall....seriously, he's going to get me kicked out of my membership to Defenders of Wildlife & The National Wildlife Federation! :-)

Anyways, we decided to do the walls in tongue & groove wood to continue our theme. One of my unnamed relatives likes to remark about our cabin "it's too bad you don't have a wall to paint." It's a log cabin! And also I'm too lazy to paint walls......hee,hee!

Here's phase 1 - first wall is done and so is the stair landing.

Anyways, while Greg is dreaming about his potential man cave, I'm thinking about where the wine cellar is going to go......

  3. Oh Shelley, That will be so neat.... It's looks good so far. AND I'm sure that your Sweetie will let you do whatever you want to do down there... (That's the duty of the husband, isn't it??? ha ha)

Don't EVER paint the log cabin. I love it like it is --and if you once paint, you'll have to continue it forever... Yuk..

    Betsy

  9. Gorgeous! Our entire house except for parts of the basement) is done in tongue and groove..I so agree that I love it and would have it no other way. Greg would love our man cave..we did a big room in the basement with old barn wood walls and have a ton of taxidermy wildlife down there. We call it the "cabin room" Of course, we put a tv and a couch in there for lounging too. Helps a lot when we want to watch different TV shows. ha

  10. Shelley that wood work is gorgeous! I am with you though, get that baby finished and get the wine cellar in! Oooo I know it is going to be so cozy just like the rest of the cabin. Maybe you could talk Greg out of the animal heads on the walls. I KNOW YOU could talk him out of that idea.

  13. Sure does look nice.
Terry insisted there be some walls with sheetrock. Me? I'd prefer the wood like you've got but have to agree that a little painting surface (or a place to hang needlework) isn't a bad thing.

As for the "man cave" vs. "wine cellar" all I can say is, "What's the conflict?"

(Oh. And I agree with Greg vis-a-vis the head mounts. Although Terry sides with you. I can't hang anything less than a 10-point and I've yet to get that. :-( )
