I am addicted to the
Old Spud Warehouse in Gaylord. This building was used by potato growers in the early 1900's and is now an ecclectic home decor shop mixed with new and antique items. There is something for everyone here whether you own a traditional home, cottage or log cabin.

They always have new inventory so I always stop in for a peek. I'm driving Greg crazy - he wants me to give it a rest for a month.

In the basement, you can find some neat antique tables, lamps, old wooden skis and much more.

See that large owl on the bottom shelf - left hand side? Well he now has a home at our log cabin!
We have a place around here called the "Market Barn". I spent 2 hours wandering the barn and still didn't see everything!
ReplyDeleteThis was an old barn, and the interior is partitioned into "kiosks" (there must have been 40-50 of them). The majority were rustic accessories or crafts with lots of antiques around. Each kiosk has a different vendor, but checkout is all done at the same place. It was a wonderful experience and one that I am going to repeat often because YES...new inventory arrives all the time and they are just gearing up for Christmas!!!
Looks like a totally fun place to go!!
ReplyDeleteDangerous for the wallet!
Oh Shelley, I love going to places like that!!! You can always find unique things. I bought my 'fireplace angel' at a place similar to that one. That is one lucky owl to have a home with you all in your gorgeous cabin!!! What is his name?

I love places like this! so fun to browse and just look at everything!
ReplyDeleteNow you've done it! After seeing that owl, I have the "give a hoot, don't pollute" jingle playing in my head.
ReplyDeleteWell with a plug like this, you may get to go back sooner...I think they owe you a discount! :D
ReplyDeleteBill and I really need to make a road trip. Once we are up north, I usually don't make it north of Grayling. But, I love shops like that!...
ReplyDeleteThat is a neat store. The furniture looks so comfy! Cute little animals, too!
ReplyDeleteI love looking at furniture whether I need it or not.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I would love to visit that store!
ReplyDeleteLooks like my kind of place.... And I would have been drawn to that owl too.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, we've just started a similar adventure to build a log home this year. I'm just getting our blog up to date, you are welcome to check it out at www.blindriverloghouse.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWe're not far from you but cannot make your open house. We are in a race against time to get the place closed up for winter and will keep tracking how things are going for you as this could likely help our saga.
Cheers from Canadian log house fans. Our log builder is Ronn Hann of Northern Comfort Log Homes in Goulais River, Ontario Canada. More news when we have it.
Shelley, I love the owl. My daughter collects owls.
