Glorious Morning

What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

kayak

I remember the day I took this photo from my kayak. It was a glorious morning. The lake was quiet and calm with a mist rising in the distance. The loons were calling to each other. I could breathe in the fresh crisp air. I was able to slip into nature and be a silent observer. I'm looking forward to having another morning like this soon. Hurry spring!

  2. Beautiful photo. Charli has really been acting up today and not listening. It's a sure sign of spring. she does this every year so it won't be long now.

  3. Came here from George's blog. This is my kind of countryside.

Enjoyed your photos of critters from the cabin too.

Shall we swap weather trends - we are in the middle of a heatwave and bushfires!

  4. Hi Shelley, After 3 days of snow flurries (only about 2 inches total) and snow blowing around in the air---and after temperatures in the TEENS and below (low of 9 degrees this morning), I too am yearning for SPRING... Hurry up, Spring!!!!!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  11. I can just hear the loons crying. Our lake has been foggy for two days. When the sun broke through this afternoon it was so blue above and below it was breathtaking. You are right, now all we need is a little more warmth. - Margy

  13. I wish the weather would make up its mind! One day I'm chipping ice off my car and 2 days later it's 78 degrees! Is it any wonder I can't get rid of this danged cold?! Springtime in Texas...allergy season extraordinaire! I can NOT wait to move to Montana! We're going to the big log home show here in Dallas this weekend! Yippee!

Thanks for the pictures of your critters. My stepmom and father had a squirrel many years ago. I think my father brought him home as a baby. (He was probably squirrel hunting when he came across him). That squirrel started out cute but got pretty ornery before too long! I'll bet being kept indoors had something to do with that! He'd pounce on us if we walked too close to my stepmother (who belonged to HIM!) They wound up moving him gradually more and more outdoors until they thought it was okay for him to be let go. He lived in a tree right outside their house and hung out on their porch a lot. It's funny how I forgot about that until I saw your picture of "Baby". Happy Thursday!

  16. We live on 8 acres in the U.P. I always say I'm going to pick a place and take a picture of that same place through all 4 seasons.... and note the differences. That would be a perfect spot for you....

  17. I'm here at school so the photos are blocked,... arrrggghhh,...but that quote is one i've seen before. And so very true! Thanks for reminding me of it!

  24. Funny thing, I was on facebook today ribbing some of our mutual friends who live down south as they were complaining about being cold.

I put in my status that I was sweltering in this sub zero heat.

    Is your camera waterproof?

    ReplyDelete
  34. A wonderful shot, Shelley. I would love to live on a lake! I second A. Joy's comment - is your camera waterproof, or do you have waterproof housing for it? I'm petrified to take my Nikon DSLR out on the water, and am considering getting a camera specifically designed for being around water.

  35. A. Joy - my camera is not waterproof and I'm extra careful in my kayak! (But I do get nervous sometimes having it w/ me!)
