A walk in Nature

This past weekend we had friends at the cabin. We did so much over a short period of time. We went to an Oktoberfest, ate at a great Mexican Restaurant, played Sequence and had a bonfire. On Sunday morning, Greg and I took them to one of our favorite nature trails that is nearby.

I love tall pines!

In the winter, this is a great place for snowshoeing.

As we walk through the trail, it alternates between light and dark depending on the density of the trees. Here are my friends - aren't they a cute couple?

  5. These photos are breathtaking! I love the one of the tall pines. I have never been in woods like that . If these trails are close to your cabin, I wonder how you can ever leave it. Your friends probably feel so fortunate to be able to visit with you in such beautiful surroundings.

  10. Beautiful photos!
    And what a wonderful weekend!
I love tall pines too! Unfortunately, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is cutting down all the tall pine tree forest on state land in my area These pine trees were planted by the boy scouts (I believe) in the late 1940's-50's. I was told by the loggers that they are cutting them down in the name of "going green". It is very sad to me as Buck and I have been walking the beautiful trails for 3 years now. They clear- cut the pine forest nearest the Teeny Tiny just this past summer. We have some of the pines on our property-what I call the "Piney woods" and I am thankful for them, but only small tracts of them on private property will by left after the devastation. They are leaving the hardwoods to grow-as they are worth a lot more money. I took "before" and "after" pictures and was going to post them on Flickr--but I'm feeling a little bitter about it--thought I'd wait till I get over it and accept it.
Anyway, I so enjoyed your beautiful trails!
    Blessings to you!

  18. Shelley! I cannot believe you live so CLOSE to that! We have to drive miles and miles to find that kind of beauty. Now we'll REALLY have to drive far, because our beautiful forests all burned up - 250 SQUARE MILES of them. It is so sad.
So I'll live through your photos! Thank goodness for blogging!!
Hey - NO SCOUT!!! What's up with that?

    :)
