Roof Overhangs for the Log Cabin

The longer the roof overhangs, the better! They are very important in protecting the logs from the weather elements. For the design Greg & I picked out (Tall Timbers - looks like a ski chalet) - we were limited once we reached the lower level of the cabin. The top roof overhang by the loft is 4 feet and narrows down at the bottom to about 2 feet. We couldn't go longer on the bottom level because we wouldn't have been able to open our side door. From what the builder and the log company told us, this will be sufficient to protect our log cabin.
