Fall is here!

Bad blogger (a.k.a. ME!) is back and excited for my favorite season - fall! We are headed up next week to the cabin for several days and the colors should be at their peak in Northern Michigan.

I also saw my first eastern Blue Bird! I was so excited - took several bad shots and the only one that was half-way decent was this one of him apparently snubbing me. Ah well, I probably deserved it!

How are the fall colors in your area? Have you been doing any fall baking?

Fall is coming!

My favorite time of year is upon us. I love autumn and can't wait to show off Michigan's colors to you soon. How is it looking in your neck of the woods?

I've started decorating the cabin. I've decided a girl can't have too many pumpkins. Thus I plan on putting pumpkins everywhere - inside and outside the cabin. Greg says we don't live on a pumpkin farm but I beg to differ...

The trees have a little hint of color right now.

The ducks are getting ready to migrate. I'm sure my poop covered dock will miss them.

And Scout may be the happiest of all. She thrives on cold weather and is ready for the white fluffy stuff.

Leaves at the cabin

Look at all the leaves that have fallen around the cabin! And I have one question...

Who is going to rake all these lovely leaves?

Anyone?

Hey! Greg and Scout - where do you think you two are going???

Thinking of fall and dog halloween costumes

“There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!”

- Percy Bysshe Shelley

I hope my husband is not reading this today because I know he'll think I'm ridiculous for wanting to get Scout a halloween costume. (He better watch it or I'll get him a matching one and make him take Scout trick or treating! Ha!) Anyways, here's a few I found on the Internet:

Look at this Taco one! I think Scout is too big, but JEN - how about for Hershey or Betty?

Darla, I can't remember if you have any dogs but I know you like flowers!

Suz, for some reason this made me think of Bartholomew!

Hmmm.....I've always wanted Scout to become a doctor when she grows up....

Decisions, decisions! What is your pooch going to be for Halloween?

What's happening outside...

Autumn is coming a little later this year to northern Michigan. The fall colors are only about 1/3 of the way. I imagine it will be another 2 weeks before they peak. Let's check out what's happening outside the log cabin...

Here's a view from the deck.

Looking out at the lake.

Greg needs to do some trimming around the dock. Looks like we're walking out into a rain forest.

Look at these mushrooms I found. Don't they look like 3 marshmallows you want to pop into your mouth?

Scout is taking Greg for a walk....

Would you like to take me for a walk? I promise to be good...

A little fall decorating and more elk

I've started to do a little fall decorating at the log cabin. I have to hit up Garden Ridge, Kohls and the local Farmers Market for more supplies.

I put a few pumpkins on top of the kitchen cupboards to keep all my birds company.

I had promised you some photos of Greg feeding the elk. Look how excited these ladies are!

I think they were developing a crush on him - I told them to back off! (They kept following him along the fence line even when he didn't have food...)

Besides, their boyfriend looked a little tough if you ask me....

Fall color check at the cabin

This photo was taken 2 weeks ago at our log cabin and you can see the leaves are just starting to turn. I can't wait to check Autumn's progress this weekend!

Plus after looking at textbooks, taking quizzes and performing numerous experiments in lab class - I am ready just to look at the lake and my birds! Some of you asked me about school. I have returned to college to obtain an Applied Science degree.

Let me tell you, school has changed so much since I was there so many years ago (don't ask how long - it makes me feel old! Ha!) I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were a lot of students "my age" that have returned to school, most of it in the health field. I'm sure many as a result of our challenging economy. Michigan is powered by the automotive industry and I'm sure you all know how that's going. Anyways, don't worry, I'm still selling log homes. And I'm waiting for your phone call....:-) So is Scout...

Let's get in the fall mood....

It's no secret that Fall is my favorite season. I look forward to October when Michigan shows her glorious colors. I'm dreaming of eating fresh apple pie, drinking cold cider and decorating the cabin with several pumpkins and mums.

And of course I'm going to have to rake a leaf pile to jump into! The yellow fall leaves are my favorite! What is your favorite fall leaf color?

Let's take a look at the Autumn photos I shot last year in northern Michigan...

This one was actually taken a few years ago from the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City.

*I apologize f0r my lack of blog posts and visits. I've been busy getting ready for school and started classes this week! That will be another post. Hope you have a lovely weekend and I look forward to catching up with you!
