Retail Therapy

I think everyone in bloggyland knows how disappointed I was that we weren't able to make it to the log cabin this weekend. Well I'm done complaining! I did a little "retail therapy" and headed over to one of my favorite bargain stores (Garden Ridge) to pick up some home items for the log cabin! (P.S. While I do love that store, I am confused why they never have enough people at the cash register but 20 people out on the floor socializing. Hello people?!)

Isn't this an adorable little bird feeder? I will set it on the deck railing and fill it with some treats!

Aren't these metal stars great? I've decided on a more rustic - hint of cowboy theme for the loft. I bought 2 large bronze metal stars to hang on the wall.

Well now that I have the metal star wall hangings, I had to have this star lamp on the right! (Usually I'm not so matchy.) This lamp was only $10!! Yes, you heard me right, $10!!

Doesn't an Adirondack rocker sound great for the deck? Rocking back and forth with a daiquiri in my hand and looking out at the lake....
I didn't buy any yet cuz they're not on sale. But soon they will be and I'll snap up two of these!

Well thanks for joining my retail therapy session! Be sure to check back on Tuesday for details of my GIVEAWAY! I appreciate all of you who visit (even the lurkers who don't leave comments! ha, ha!)

Finishing the Log Cabin Loft

We had the log cabin loft carpeted and we are another step ahead in finishing our log home. It's hard to tell from the photos below but I picked out a color darker than cinnamon toast - more beige w/ brownish flecks. I probably should have gone darker. One of my blog readers had pointed out if you go too light - then the carpet looks pink against the wood walls.

Now I have to buy some "stuff" to put in the loft. I'm having visions of a comfy seating & reading area, a rustic desk and much more. Black Forest Decor has great rustic furnishings and accents for the log home. Greg is pretending not to hear me right now when I show him the catalog and ask "what do you think about this honey?" It's only a matter of time and oh yeah, how about that Bernese Mountain dog?

Log Cabin Loft

We are weekend warriors at our log home so when we do home improvement projects, we have limited time in which to do them. I decided it's time to carpet the loft. (Especially when it sounds like a whole army is occupying the cabin when my stepson and his cousins are running around up there.)

I called the local carpet store and told them I have 3 questions - do they have enough carpeting in stock to finish a 500 SF loft, how much and can you schedule the installers on Monday to come. There was a long silence at the other end of the line and I immediately thought - uh, oh - I'm in Type A mode and acting like a fudgie. For those that don't know, a fudgie is a person who lives in southern Michigan but likes to visit up north and acts like the typical tourist that always wants to buy fudge up there or doing something type A that the northerners don't appreciate. But then the person was really nice and said okay and we'll see you on Saturday. Whew!

Check out some of the colors I'm thinking about below and let me know what YOU think! Thanks!
