Love of a child and dog

Greg's best friend and his 2 boys came to visit us at the cabin this weekend. Scout loves all kids but was particularly enthralled with the youngest one. Scout loved him immediately and followed him all around. My heart melted to see these two together. Can you see the connection in the photo? I still can't stop saying Aw!

Three questions on the cabin pets

Question #1 - Do you think I feed Marvin too much?

Question #2 - Do you think Marvin is daydreaming about chipmunks or about buying Scout a one-way ticket to Switzerland?

Question #3- Who do you think is the King of the cabin?

A great day for the animals

Scout: I'm having a great day today! It's sunny and I've been playing in the backyard!

As long as I have my mommy, dirt to dig and toys to bury, I'm very happy!

Marvin: All I need is a patch of sunlight and for that dog to stay outside - and then it's a great day!

Thief

"Hi there! I'm stepping in for my mommy today while she's studying. I upset her a little bit today when I took a pair of her underpants and ran in the yard with it waving it like a flag! You should've seen her chasing me! Especially when the neighbor that lives in back of us came outside w/ his dogs and saw what I was doing. I think the last straw was when I started digging a hole and burying the underwear in the dirt. That's a no-no! And mommy is still scratching her head trying to figure out how I got that underwear! But I'll never tell..."

Scout's Playdate

Scout recently had a playdate with her siblings and some of the adult dogs owned by our breeder. She had a great time running around with all the other puppies at the park. Afterwards, I had a chance to reflect on a couple things:

  1. Scout is too babied. She kept checking back in with me every 5 minutes. The other puppies could've cared less where their owners were. They were busy running away and getting into things they shouldn't. (I must be a better mommy - ha!)
  2. Scout and her brother Yogi were the nicest pups. (I say this because Scout and Yogi were the only puppies not biting.)
  3. Scout has the smallest head. I keep thinking of that movie Beetlejuice. (Know what I'm talking about - the guy w/ the shrunken head?)

Anyways, here's a slide video I put together of her day. And yes, I love my Scout WAY TOO MUCH!

Scout misses you!

Well Scout was complaining that she missed all of you and could I please put down my schoolbooks and say hello! She's 4 months old now, weighs over 30 pounds and is still trying to win over Marvin the cat.

Marvin wanted me to let you know that there's a free Bernese Mountain Dog available and that he'll throw in the dog biscuits if you pick her up next week! (Marvin is a little perturbed at Scout for chewing up his fuzzy mouse toys...)

Hope you are all doing well - I promise to catch up with you this week. The first few weeks of school have been a little overwhelming and I've been trying to get into a routine. I have 3 classes and feel like I have 10!

Daddy's Girl

Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. ~Roger Caras

Oh yeah! The hubby is GONE! Way Gone!! Scout has him wrapped around her little paw!

*We're headed to the cabin for a week - I will have periodic Internet access and will try to catch up with all of you! By the way, I get to meet a blogger friend on Wednesday - Heather of Heather of the Hills is stopping by. Can't wait!! Have a great week my friends!

Please excuse my mommy

Please excuse my mommy! I know she's been a bad blogger but I've been keeping her really busy!

I need lots of chest and belly rubs!

And I need to nibble on her fingers! (Please note her Christmas pajamas...I wasn't going to say anything but it is JULY!!)

How can you resist a face like this??

Scout & Marvin's side of the story

Scout's version: I am a very good girl. I come when I'm called and I already sit. I'm very cuddly and follow my mom all over the house. My favorite toy is my rope bunny rabbit. I take lots of puppy naps. I have not nipped at Marvin the cat whatsoever and if he just gives me a chance we can play very nicely. Woof, woof!

Marvin's version: Oh please, I'm so OVER this puppy! Did you know she ate her poop yesterday? She's also peed in her crate twice. And about the toys, I've seen her go after mommy and daddy's shoes. As for playing nicely, if you call chasing me around the house wanting to play nice - then I have a cat condo I want to sell you in the middle east! I've had to slap this youngster on the nose twice - just so she knows - I'm the BOSS of the house. Cats rule. Meow.

Quick Photos of Scout

Hi there! I know I promised you some photos of Scout! Here's a couple quick ones and I promise more are coming. She's keeping me busy today by exploring the house and sniffing Marvin the cat's butt - LOL! Marvin has been very curious about her and goes into every room that Scout goes into. I predict they'll be napping together by next week. I'll check in with all of you later - forgive me while I spend time LOVING this puppy to pieces today!!

Log Cabin Pets

Sleep all you can Marvin....

...Cuz I have a feeling this little one isn't going to let us sleep for a few days!

P.S. We are up at the cabin and coming home later this week to prepare for Scout's arrival. I can't wait to have this sweet baby home!

Puppy Madness!

Happiness is a warm puppy. ~Charles M. Schulz

I went and saw my baby today! (Or as Jen calls her - "the nameless puppy" - ha!) Look at this sweet little face!

Do you think she already knows how spoiled she's going to be?

Here's she is laying against her sister. I just want to rub that puppy belly!

Yes, I have a bad case of puppy love! I have to enjoy her 4 pounds of sweetness right now - cuz next year she's going to be a 70-90 pound girl! Can you picture it???

P.S. I thought of a name for my baby girl. I'm going to make you guess. And then I'll give away a prize to the 1st person with the correct answer! Clues and giveaway details will be posted Wednesday morning.
