What type of dog breed are you?
Since I'm off to the log cabin, thought I would leave you with this fun quiz! It's called "What type of dog breed are you?" - click here to take the quiz and then please come back and tell me what type of dog you are! (Ha!)
I was a Golden Retriever! (Don't tell my Bernese puppy....)
Wow, You're a Golden Retriever!
Golden Retriever
The Charmer
Laid-back, sociable and well-groomed, you've got your own hip little pack of groupies who just love to be around you. You have a brain inside that adorable little head of yours, though you use it mostly to organize your hectic social calendar. You never poop out at parties, and since you're popular with ladies and men, as well as children and adults, you dish out your wit, charm and luck to whomever is close enough to bask in it. The top dog likes you and wants to be your best friend, despite the fact that he doesn't really know what the heck you do. No one does, in fact, but everyone loves you all the same. A true foodie, you’ve got your keen ears fine-tuned to make sure you don't miss out on the opening of a trendy new place to nosh. But your youthful days of being able to wolf down food 24-7 are wagging behind you, meaning you've got to watch what you eat so you don’t pull a Brando and outgrow your coats. Learn more »

Log Home Staining
Greg and I are debating on another layer of stain for our log home. We had 2 coats put on last year of the Transformation Stain from Sashco. We used the medium red-tone brown. This particular stain does not require a sealer. Greg is gung ho to get scaffolding, sprayers and throw on another coat. We'll inspect it this weekend and make a decision. (But I'm not getting on a ladder Greg! I'll be too busy playing with my puppy and catering to our kitty Marvin.)
Speaking of Marvin, have you ever seen a cat sleep on his back like this?
Or like this?! What a rough life he has....
P.S. I'll be gone this weekend with limited access to the Internet but I'll be sure to catch up with you on Monday. By the way, I get to visit my puppy girl on Monday. I think I'm going to have to have some sort of giveaway to celebrate....stay tuned...I'm thinking hard....

Chipmunk Love
Escuse me Chip, that orange feeder is for the Orioles!
We have a chipmunk that has claimed our log cabin as his territory. Whenever I put out a new bird feeder, he has to go investigate it and then take a taste test. He's gotten pretty friendly and will come up to me on the deck to beg for food. (I have to remember to get Greg to snap a photo of me with my buddy.)
This guy has a series of tunnels / holes on our property. Did you know that a Chipmunk has different uses for each tunnel? One is used for his toilet, one is used for storing food, one for sleeping, etc. Here's one of his holes - this is the one he likes to pop out of when I walk by to chirp at me.
P.S. I'm getting ready for my craft show in Gaylord this Saturday. So if you're in the area, please stop by! The show runs from 8 - 4 in the downtown area. I will be selling items from my Nature Store.

More of my Bernese Puppy
First off I will admit, I am just an animal nut. I love dogs, cats, wildlife, a little ladybug, birds - you name it! (Well, there's a few I don't like: snakes, spiders & alligators!) Anyways, I am so excited for this puppy and I AM A COMPLETE DORK so I made this You Tube Video below. Yep, I'm crazy! Bear with me!

Boats for the Cabin (and another dog photo!)
Part of the fun of having a log cabin on the lake is BEING in the lake. Greg's preference is a fishing boat (he is dreaming of a center console fishing boat but that is way too big for our little lake!) He has a drift boat which he loves to take out to all the lakes nearby.
Here he is fishing with my stepson. We have Blue Gill, Bass and Pike in our lake.
I love kayaking! It allows me to slip into nature quietly and observe wildlife without disturbing them too much. It serves as the perfect vehicle to find my Loons. There are many different designs to choose from. Greg likes his "sit on top" Kayak. I like being nestled low into mine. I have found the best prices for Kayaks at Dick's Sporting Goods. You just have to watch for the sales.
And now another gratuitous photo of my Bernese puppy dog! I can't wait to get her home! I have 4 more weeks to wait. We are still thinking of names. Since she is a Swiss Mountain Dog, I was trying to think of Swiss names. Or maybe something nature related. I may need your help so please feel free to throw suggestions out there!
