The Cabin is stained & the fox needs a home!

In the end, it was all about time. Originally we had thought about staining the log home ourselves or doing shared labor with our builder to save money. But then Greg was traveling a lot for work and we felt under the gun with the weather exposure to the logs. Thus Randy (our builder) and his crew power washed, treated and stained the logs over a course of 5 days. Now we can breathe a sigh of relief - our logs are protected and it's starting to look more like a log home. Now we have our other projects - landscaping, decorating, finishing the basement, carpeting the loft, etc. and oh yes....where to place my husband's STUFFED FOX WITH A PHEASANT IN ITS' MOUTH!!

The sun was not cooperating with this photo. Hope to post better ones soon!

Here's the deck view. And the deck floor still needs to be finished..... (hint, hint Randy!)

Back of the cabin.

Do you have a home for him??

Oh, I love the fox! If you can't find a place for him, may I have him? Bob (our stuffed bobcat) would love some company!

I am finally trying to catch up with my blog friends. Your cabin looks wonderful. I definitely like that stain -- and the green trim around some of the windows. The fox? I think the future family room would be a good place. Did your husband shoot the poor little thing?

Looks great, the stain is nice!
The fox... hummmmm where to put him!

Brandi - You just reminded my hubby - he wants to name his fox now! Maybe Bob could come over to play! :-)

Violetlady - Greg did not shoot the fox (he would've gotten in a lot of trouble from me!) - but got it from someone else. He would LOVE to put it in the family room...

Lisa - thank you for the stain compliment!

Beautiful stain job! Do you have a fireplace and mantel? That would be a perfect place for the fox and pheasant.

Wow, the house is really looking good! About the fox... how about on the fireplace hearth?!

Wow!
Your crew did an outstanding job!
What is the name of the color? I am realy liking that. Red tone brown is all I see from your previous post.

My husband said "That is really an impressive mount." about the fox.
He looked at it for a long time and I could see the wheels spinning.

Bobbi - no fireplace yet - we are hoping to put one in soon - good idea!

Hi jennifer - still trying to decide on the fireplace - might get one of those freestanding gas stove fireplaces...

Cassie - thanks!

Jen - it's "red tone medium brown" from Sashco. Still don't know about that fox...!

I am so loving the look of the logs after the staining. I click on the link and saw the first pic and immediately thought "oh wow, I really like that color" it looks so warm and inviting. I am so envious. The stuffed fox while he is pretty cool looking (much better than I had envisioned), I am not sure where I would want him located either.

Joated - thank you, "warm" is exactly the feeling I wanted to capture.

Christy - glad you like the color too!

Jess - still working on making it more homey...

Sandy- thanks! Fox still doesn't have a home...
