Well the wildflowers popped up only recently. Before then, you should've seen the hubby's face and heard his words as he checked them every week we headed up to the cabin (What is up with those !@#$ wildflowers?!)
I wanted to share his handiwork with you. (Darla, perhaps you can name some of these flowers for us?? We have no clue!!)
Here is one of two flower boxes that Greg built. (I was responsible for the patio plants!)

Doesn't this yellow flower remind you of a ray of sunshine?
I know what these are! Marigolds! Well that's because I planted them in Greg's box (he was a little perturbed - I was suppose to stick to the patio plants) - but I thought they would look nice there.
We've only had a few hummingbirds and butterflies this summer. It hasn't been the best weather wise this year - hopefully next year we get more of our winged visitors!

The blue ones remind me of cornflowers but I don't know about flowers in the USA so I can't help.
I am way flattered here. I see Centaurea Cyanus--Bachelor Buttons--Cornflower the blue, white and pink ones. The red flower looks like Crimson Clover, could use a closer shot of it and the leaves. The golden yellow sunshine flower is a poppy. Great job Greg!! The marigolds...just smell them. I ID a lot of flowers and plants by their smell...Now you have something to research to see if I am correct!!

Shelley, Great Flowers! Greg's garden is beautiful! I have no clue what those flowers are, but if I saw the steam of the white one, I would guess it is a dahlia! Have a great time up north! :)
I think Greg did a great job with the flower boxes. Hummingbirds have consistently shown up here only in the last couple of weeks. Up until then we didn't see any. I don't know if you'll get any this year, but I hope you have many next year.

So pretty!! I know that the yellow one is called a poppy, but we always called them buttercups...Fitting, uh?!I like that name better:)
I love your flowers. I think the purple one is a bachlor button or at least that's what I always call them and the yellow one is some kind of poppy. I don't know what the red one is.
Wow, those flowers have really come to life since we saw them. They look lovely! Greg did a very nice job with them!
The flowers look beautiful! I think I saw some Bachelor Buttons in there. We have 2 Rose of Sharon bushes and the hummingbirds love them. They are so fun to watch.

I just had to look at Darla's answer to see if she said Bachelor Buttons, which she did. Made me feel good to know that I knew at least one of Greg's flowers. It also looked like you will have a Black Eyed Susan or Sunflower blooming real soon, couldn't tell which for sure. I agree with everybody else, it will be even better next year.

Wow! I am so impressed with Greg's idea of planting these wildflowers. They are beautiful now,and I can only imagine what they will look like next year. I felt at home when you called them red flowers, blue flowers,...just like me. Great post! Yes Shelley, your marigolds do look nice in those planters. I'm sure by now, Greg will agree.

Shelly, Greg did a wonderful job and I love wild flowers....we have a space between our fence and the county road that we plant every year with about 15 lbs of wild flowers ( it is a long stretch) and usually they are beautiful and sometimes people stop and leave a message on our mailbox...so my hat is off to Greg.
