Winter Weekend

Made it up to the cabin last night. It was 32 degrees and plenty of snow on the ground. Scout could barely contain her excitement - I think she ate half the snow in our backyard! And of course she kept "faking me out" all night pretending she had to go outside to the bathroom and as soon as we got out there she ran around wanting me to chase her. Not fun at 3:00 in the morning!

The birdwatching was phenomenal this morning. We had Chickadees, Hairy, Downy and Red-Bellied Woodpeckers, Gold finches and a Tufted Tit-Mouse. The more birds I see, the more bird feeders I want to buy. So this afternoon I'm dragging Greg over to Bosmans to pick up more birdy food and another new feeder. Later on we are going to go snow shoeing. I'm debating about taking Scout - cuz I know she'll be pulling her leash so hard that I'll be water skiing on top of the snow! What have you got planned this weekend?

Hi Shelley....

Your cabin looks so cozy and pretty decorated for Christmas.

Our dogs can surely fake us out any time they want to, can't they? I know ours do, too! It's funny though...they only do it when dad's on duty call - they NEVER do that when I am!! LOL!!! NEVER!!

I love bird-watching, too. But, on our small lot, the bird seed everywhere made too much of a mess. And now that we have the enclosed 900 square foot patio, there is almost no place to put a bird-feeder. :(

Happy Holidays,
Jan

Shelley look at all that Christmas festive inside the cabin! It looks beautiful! Scout, she is just such a sweet pup. Nothing like a snowfall to bring out those birdie butts to the feeders. Enjoy your festiveness and give Marvin the Cat a scritch for me :)

Your cabin looks absolutely beautiful -- it looks perfect for Christmas. Water skiing on top of the snow would be a new experience. You don't want to hurt Scout's feelings by leaving her behind, do you?

Oh how neat to be at the log cabin for Christmas... AND with snow on the ground, what else could you want????

I'm sure the birds are thrilled to see you... I think they all depend on us during the winter... Great pictures.

Love your tree and decorations... Are you all staying there through Christmas???? I'm sure that Scout will be THRILLED.

Good Lucky SNOW SHOEING ---or whatever Scout has you doing!!!! ha

Hugs,
Betsy

What more could you possibly ask for at Christmas, than to spend time at your cabin? Really, you have it looking so beautiful, cozy, inviting and fun. Scout could be a dog model:) He is so handome! Thanks for sharing. My mother would be so excited if she saw a bird like yours, at her feeders.

Beautiful!!! We just need snow here to complete our Christmas decorating. Christmas in our log cabin is one of my favorite times of the year. We are supposed to get a little snow tonight but no accumulation.

My sister and husband are considering building a log home and I sent her a link to your site.

Doesn't Scout know Santa is watching her every move??? She might be on the naughty list...sorry to say.
Enjoy your day/weekend!!!
I am not snowshoeing, but I might go shoe shopping. :)

The cabin looks so warm and inviting and I can relate on the four-legged fur baby wanting to go out to play in the wee hours of the morning. Sasha is good at that too! So far we have not had any snow but it has rained all day here.

We ended up having to go to the laundromat to dry towels because our dryer went out and can't get it fixed right now. Was doing well until we were done. Wendell opened up the back of the jeep but the window didn't pop up all the way and I ran smack dab into it. I haven't cried like I did in ages. I could not stop. We ended up coming straight home instead of running the rest of the errands I needed to do. Now I have a nice bump and a monstrous headache.

Hope you have a great rest of the weekend!

*hugs*

You cabin Christmas Tree is gorgeous! Scout is a smart dog - I would love to play in some snow (as long as I didn't have to drive in it). I just bought my Mom a bird feeder for Christmas. I am hoping that it will attract some birds to her porch for easy watching. - Margy

Shelley, the cabin is beautiful! I'll bet it even smells good too ; )

I too just love, love, love the birds but my husband says their driving us to the poor house. LOL! With two teenage girls and 4 animals I can kind of see his point. Still, I cannot stop feeding them. Birds are such a source of peace and tranquility in our hectic lives.

It sounds like your life has been very busy and full of change. Hopefully it has brought you joy this holiday season.

Hugs to Scout!
