The Log Cabin has a name - and we have a winner!

Saturday morning definitely determined the name for our Log Cabin. I stepped onto our deck early in the morning, the sun was just peaking out from between the trees and there was a foggy mist on top of the lake. The first thing I heard was the Loon's call across the lake. I couldn't see them but could hear their haunting call off in the distance. Thus - The Loon's Nest is born! And now for my winner of the subscription to the Country's Best Log Homes.....drum roll please...Congratulations to Brandi!! (Brandi, please email your address to me.) Thank you to everyone who voted and came up with other ideas - so many great ones to choose from. I appreciate everyone who visits and love your comments!!

"Loon's Nest" is a great name for a place on the water! We're at 2100' elevation (the valley is around 1500' ergo "The Aerie" was a natural for us. Especially as the red-tailed hawks and vultures often fly below eye level.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I really enjoyed visiting your site and seeing your cabin. I have in-laws in Petosey and Baraga. We don't get there often from PA, but I can see the draw to the area. It is beautiful country. I will keep an eye on your site as I explore my own cabin fever.

Congrats to brand!!

I really think I'm in a time warp. I know I've visited both boards yesterday morning and these posts weren't up...(this is blowing my mind, haha)...and yet this post is May 5, and the one on the bird blog is May 4. I'm hoping its' your computer's date and time, not my brain.

Joated - thank you for the feedback! And I like "The Aerie" - it sounds like a pleasant place to be.

Jill - Petoskey is about 25 minutes from me - good shopping & restaurants! You should pay your inlaws a visit. Thank you for visiting my blog! I enjoyed yours.

Hi Sandy - I hope it's not YOUR brain! :-)

Oh Shelly,

Shame on me! I just realized I haven't said thank you publicly for choosing my name in your contest!! Thank you, Thank you. I know I said it when I sent you my address but I don't want everyone to think that I am rude. It was fun. I know you are loving your new home. I am loving the landscaping post.

Thanks again and I can't wait to receive my first magazine!

I have been to Petosey--several times and enjoyed myself immensely. I don't knwo when we'll get there again. Gas crunch and more importantly our kids' activities play a role. But it is beautiful country. In fact, I put a Petoskey scene in my novel as the epilogue, but it was cut by my editor. :-( He said it was unnecessary after the ending.

Jennifer -ha,ha! I think you like the loons too.

Brandi - you are very welcome! Congrats again!

Jill - A "petoskey" scene would've been nice! You'll have to tell me the name of your novel!

Congratulations on naming your cabin. I think it is very appropriate. I hope you will have a nice carved wooden Loon displayed some place in your cabin.

This was such a neat idea in naming your cabin, and doing it with your readers. Too bad I missed it.
We just call our place home.
