Dreaming of a blue lake

As we are headed up to our snowy cabin on our snowy lake, I will be dreaming of spring when the blue lake returns.

To my hubby - a quote from Anne Morrow Lindbergh:

“I have been overcome by the beauty and richness of our life together, those early mornings setting out, those evenings gleaming with rivers and lakes below us, still holding the last light.”

Movie night in the cabin loft!

We are headed up to the log cabin tomorrow morning. We usually like to bring a movie or two to watch at night. Especially since we only get 2 t.v. channels up there. The loft is the perfect place - we lay out a blanket and some pillows, I pop some popcorn and then we dim the lights.

Anyways, so here's the movie Greg picked and thinks we're going to watch. (Did you doubt it was going to be an action movie?!)

But Marvin & I picked "On Golden Pond." By the way, thanks to those of you who reminded me of this movie and how the loons were in there. I can't wait to see this again with fresh eyes! (FYI - I put the Amazon link below in case you would like to get this too.) Are there any other movie classics you would recommend for the log cabin?

P.S. I have a blogger friend coming to visit me on Saturday for lunch. Can you guess who it is?!

Let's peek at my neighbors!

I want to introduce you to some of my neighbors. I'm a social person and I'm really hoping to get to know more of my neighbors and invite them over. Greg says maybe if I didn't stand out on the deck in my crazy sheep or kitty pajamas snapping photos, maybe they would come over.

This is the house across the lake from me. These are the people I wave to when I'm wearing my fleece pajamas. They don't wave back. I don't think they can see me. I don't think they are ignoring me....hmmmm. Anyways - an older lady with her son and daughter in law live here. The older lady I met at the Lake Association picnic and she's very nice - a big shot now in the community. I called one weekend to invite her over to a get together. Never got a call back. Maybe she was busy. Maybe they don't like my pajamas.

There is a wooded lot that separates my property from this yellow house. The lady in this house introduced herself to me this past summer - she was the one along with a friend who pulled her truck into my driveway at 12:00 a.m. one summer night and flashed their lights into my cabin. They didn't know I was home. They scared me because I thought someone was casing the joint. Anyways, she apologized and seems nice. Now should I pull up my Mariner in her driveway and give her a friendly honk at 2:00 a.m.? No, I'm just kidding. Really.

This family is on the other end of the lake and their blue house, blue deck, blue boat has caught my interest. Are they a blue family? Perhaps they like the blue man group? Perhaps they look at my house and think - look at all that wood - they must be boring! Anyways, I'll have to go introduce myself because I saw that they have a chocolate labrador dog I must pet!

Wouldn't you like to be MY NEIGHBOR???

Tahquamenon Falls - For Betsy & George

As many of you know, my log home is located in beautiful northern Michigan. Another place equally beautiful is the Upper Peninsula. I want to show you a piece of this wilderness - Tahquamenon Falls which is located in Paradise, Michigan. (Seriously, that's the city's name.)

Betsy (of Joyful Reflections) and her husband George (of Senior Moments) love waterfalls and have shared many lovely photos of their trips on their respective blogs. I dedicate this post to them. (P.S. They are 2 of the nicest blogger people you could ever meet!)

Seney - Paradise - Hiawatha 017

Tahquamenon Falls State Park is approximately 52,000 acres and the main attraction of this park is the Tahquamenon Falls of course! The upper falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. It has a drop of 50 feet and is more than 200 feet across.

Seney - Paradise - Hiawatha 039

These photos I'm showing you are of the Lower Falls which is comprised of 5 falls around an island. The Park itself is beautiful to walk through and offers all sorts of great activites such as camping, hiking, backpacking, cross country skiing and much more. They also have a great variety of wildlife - especially the birds. I saw my first hummingbird here!

Hope you enjoyed this part of Northern Michigan! You all come back, ye hear!
(I've always wanted to say that!)

A tag, an award and a giveaway prize

I've been tagged several times to post the 4th photo from my 4th folder. As my computer crashed, I went to my external hard drive. (At least some of my photos were saved!) Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a photo from our lake in the Fall of 2007. This is where my beloved log cabin sits and currently waits for me!

P.S. If you want to participate in this tag, please do so and let me know!

Have I told you I have the nicest blogger friends?! If you're reading this, this means YOU! Anyways, a few others made me forget for a moment about my computer crisis. One is Wixy at Wixy's gone Bananas. I enjoy his writing very much and his blog is well worth a visit! I don't typically accept awards cuz I feels so bad in leaving someone out, but he was nice enough to give me the Attitude and Gratitude award.

Another person is Dawnie! I love her blog (Dawnies Life if by the Sea) and I recently won her giveaway! She is starting her own business of homemade natural body products and I suggest you check her out. Look at all the wonderful gifts I received - including her homemade bath fizzies!
