Wrapping up outdoor projects at the Log Cabin

Right now we are trying to wrap up the staining - still a few things to do. The deck railings need to finish being caulked and have another coat of stain slapped on. Additionally, due to having a tongue & groove log joinery system on our log home, we need to fill in those grooves with caulk and slap some stain on that as well. This will add additional protection to the logs from insect infestation.
As far as landscaping, we really have to wait till fall to plant more shrubs and trees. Right now we are getting quotes to grade the back of the log cabin and add mulch to make it aesthetically pleasing for the time being. My husband is still on the hunt for more rocks to add to the landscape....maybe he can open up his own rock nursery!

It is so funny, no matter how much you do, there are a million other things that still need to be done! OH well, maybe we will all get there eventually... glad you are having fun in the process! Hope he keeps finding rocks he likes!

I love seeing your photos! Are you looking to adopt a 45 year old? I promise to keep my room clean! :)

Caulking is a good thing; it helps make a finished look in a lot of areas too.
I was only allowed to use the caulking gun under direct supervision.
Men...geeez.

Brandi - thanks - so much more to do.

Reliv - you are so right. I now have 999,9999 things to do!

Bobbi - can you help w/ the caulking too? :-)

Jen - how funny - my hubby hasn't let me get the hands on the caulking gun either....

My parents did a lot of landscaping with rocks. They got most of their rocks free from farmers that had rock piles around their fields. You might check that out.

Better give double stain for those log ends, because they take most beating from elements. There is lot of area for cracking and water does the rest.

Rocks are one thing we never run out of around here; they just keep getting moved from one place to another.
Your cabin is looking good with all that finish work done!
