Log Home Moment

Kayaking has its advantages. I was able to shoot this picture of the lakeside view of our log home. There is still a little more clearing to do. I'm trying very had to balance that with my love of wildlife habitat (as well as obeying the DEQ guidelines.) There are still some trees that are too close to our cabin that will need to be removed. Tree sap can compromise the logs so I have to make sure the branches don't touch our log home. Additionally, the last storm we had brought down some large, heavy limbs which ended up about 3 feet from our home - we got lucky that they didn't smash through our front windows. Oh the joys of log home ownership...

Wow, looks really nice.

My husband and I always differ on the point of what to clear. If he had his way he would clear everything, I say "I do not want to be living in the middle of a vacant field!" If I had my way, We wouldn't be clearing anything, LOL. I like things real natural. I do know we have to clear some of it, like you said , so it doesn't fall on the cabin. But I do not like groomed perfect yards and he does, oh well.

Nice! It almost looks like a large tree house from that angle!

Now what loon wouldn't want to live on that lake and see that view everyday! :) Beautiful.

Okay, you're killing me. Haven't been online in a while and now I read you are landscaping your cabin already??!! Slow down! You make me feel so inadequate. I painted half of the shed floor this morning. Will probably paint the other half next month. Oh, Pat mailed me up my back issues of Loghome Living and there you were in the letters section. I recognized the picture of you hoisting the log.

What a lovely picture of the cabin. I didn't realize you were so close to water. Are you allowed to have gas driven boats on the lake or do they have to be electric?
I agree with Wendy. I like the idea of keeping as many trees as possible, but so many people around here just cut down everything.

Wendy - I'm hoping we clear the "right" trees this time!

Bobbi- I always wanted a tree house as a kid...

Jen - You're right! Those loons should recognize a good lake AND a good loon ranger (me) when they see one! ha,ha

Cassie - till I read your comment today - I was agonizing how slow everything has been going! P.S. I'll be in the Sept. issue of log home living too....better pic this time.

Violet - its a no wake lake - electic motor on a fishing boat is okay.

Jennifer - thank you! Still a work in progress...
