Morning at the Log Cabin

Saturday morning was beautiful in Northern Michigan. It was sunny, low 60's and the light wind was blowing off the last of the autumn leaves. I get up so much earlier when we are at our log cabin - I don't want to miss a moment of what could be going on. Especially to see who's going to come visit me...

Here's the morning mist on the lake. You can see our log cabin off in the distance.

This black squirrel was very busy between emptying my bird feeders and teasing my cat with his loud chatter.

I had a flock of Black-capped chickadees all day on my bird feeders. I love their energy and how they let me get so close to them.

The Downy Woodpecker enjoying a suet cake. Greg put a few more up around our property. I hope we can attract that Pileated Woodpecker back to our yard!

Shelley, I love that photo with the fog on your lake. I can smell the coffee brewing! Those chickadee's are so much fun. In fact, do something clumsy, like trip and listen to them laugh. At least that is what I always think of when I do something silly.

Never been to MI, but when Patrick retires we'll have to get over that way. I love my woods, but it would top off my dream cabin to have a lake to view. (We have mnay lakes all around us, but not visible from our place.) You are SO blessed to have both trees & water. Oh, btw, Mike from Misty Mountain Furniture in Sandpoint has a Burmese Mtn. Dog and he says it is fabulous with their kids and has the best, most calm personality. He said this after my 2 goofball dogs were jumping all over him.

Gorgeous photos! I so miss chickadees - we are too close to the ocean to get them here. Really enjoyed your blog today!

I have never seen a black squirrel, we only have gray squirrels. Your right, Northern Michigan sure does look beautiful. I should get up early and head outside and take some pictures! The inside of the cabin is coming really along.

Denise- how funny - I'm always telling my hubby that I think the nuthatches are laughing at him when he does yard work! :-)

Sandy - thank you!

Cassie - you would love northern michigan! Glad to har about what a great dog the Bernese is - can't wait to get one!

Sandi - thanks so much! The chickadees I think are great messengers of cheer!

Picket - I think the grey squirrels are a little more attractive - they seem like their fur is thicker!

Wow, that picture of the mist on the lake is beautiful. I really am enjoying reading all of your blogs. Pictures like these make me come back for more everyday.

We took another day trip up to Port Sanilac this time. It was such a gorgeous day we had to get outside and enjoy it. The beautiful fall colors with Lake Huron in the background made for spectacular views.

It is such a breath of fresh air coming to your blog! I get a glimpse of what we have planned for down the road. I would enjoy watching the birds for hours with my coffee, a book and a good comfy chair on the deck!

Thanks for stopping by on Friday! It's been another hectic weekend since we are now less than 3 weeks to our youngest daughter's wedding! I am hoping that I can once again, be more timely in visiting when the craziness is behind me!
Happy Monday!
Connie

PS I pick up the trunk this morning!
