From the log cabin kitchen

I'm getting excited as Thanksgiving is approaching! Of course I had to go buy some Thanksgiving serving ware for the log cabin. This Thanksgiving we are going to celebrate at my in-laws cottage which is located about 20 minutes from our log cabin. And then the following night I am going to host the family at our place for cookies and christmas movies.

Wanted to share some of my purchases as well as a quick salad supreme pasta recipe which is great for lunch!

I picked these up at Garden Ridge - gosh I love that store!

Of course I needed the turkey placemats!

And now for a quick lunch recipe that has nothing to do with Thanksgiving!

This is such a simple pasta salad to make. You just need Zesty Italian Dressing, Salad Supreme Seasoning, your favorite pasta (I think spaghetti is best) and vegetables. I like to put green pepper in mine!

Boil 4 1/2 cups of pasta according to the directions. Then drain - don't rinse!

In a bowl, combine the pasta, 4 tablespoons of salad supreme seasoning, 1 cup of veggies such as peppers and 1 cup of Italian Dressing. Sprinkle a little more seasoning on top and then chill. Voila!

Salad looks delicious! Thanks for the comment on my bathroom remodel.

We are looking forward to peeling more logs tonight, and then coming up with the perfect idea to affix them to the now enclosed porch...that has an outer/now inner wall that still has asbestos siding. Blech....any thoughts?

The dishes are adorable. And spaghetti salad - yummm. My mom always makes this. She puts cucumbers, pepperoni, black olives, and cherry tomatoes in hers as well as the green pepper. Any more though with so many different tastes in the family she puts all the veggies and such on the side and you get to build your own.

Misty - I'm looking forward to following your porch project too. not sure what you can do about that asbestos siding but be careful!

sandi - I am quickly running out of room here! lol!

Michele - thank you!

denise - I really don't have the space for it but I've been moving things around in the cupboards. :-)

Your cabin looks my house look like hell. We have SO much redecorating to do! I love all your seasonal decorations.

For the life of me, I can't find your email address, so let me answer your comment on my blog about the electric fireplace. I used to think they were awful, but now that I've had two "modern" ones in a row, I have to see, I'm impressed. We really want a woodstove in our family room, but until that day comes, the electric fireplace is fine. That room is cold (no basement underneath) and I find the fireplace warms it up a lot, and amazingly, it adds more ambience than you'd think. Not quite a real crackling fire, but not bad at all! At our last house we had one that looked like a cast-iron stove and it was really nice.

Your new dishes are very festive! What a nice idea having your family over the night after Thanksgiving. Um, what movie will you be watching...what kind of cookies will you be making? Looking forward to finding out.

Shelly,
I make a salad very similar to that except I use Dorothy Lynch salad dressing instead of Zesty Italian, although I like it too.

Thanks for stopping by my Etsy shop, what do you think? The photo's I have a not quite as good a quality as I would like but I'm working on that.

Hope you have a great day,
Bill
