Decorating the Cabin for Valentine's Day

When I got sick over the holidays, I was a little upset not to be spending time at our log cabin. Especially since I wanted to enjoy all the Christmas decorations I had put up. By the time I felt better it was time to take everything down. So Dawnie at Dawnies Life by the Sea had mentioned hanging up some Valentine's lights. A light popped on in my head. Literally! I could decorate for Valentine's Day! Just a few simple things.....nothing overboard.

Below I added some red candles with a berry garland wrapped around the candle sticks. Then I found this cute wooden sign that says "Love." (By the way, Kohls is having a sale on their Valentine decorations right now!)

I hung valentine garland with heart shaped lights on the staircase.

Here's a close up of the heart lights - I love their glow! And Greg if you're reading this....a Bernese Mountain dog puppy with a red ribbon wrapped around his neck would make the PERFECT Valentine's Day gift!

I think it looks pretty romantic and special....now about that dog Greg!!! lol

I love your valentine decorations. Someone else in Blogland said they didn't want to take down their Christmas tree, so she was decorating it with hearts and heart ornaments for Valentines day. What great ideas you two have! Because it's always so sad to take down the wonderful Christmas decorations- it looks so bare.
Sorry to hear you were sick. Hope you are better now.
Smiles. Ruthie

How sweet and cute it is there at your lovely cabin. I hope you get plenty of chance to enjoy your decorations. By the way, if you get that dog, how do you think Marvin will react? Has he been around dogs before?

I'm seriously going to move in...I am so envious!!! The lights and decorations are just icing on the cake! Have a great evening!

The Valentine's decorations look absolutely great. Maybe with a little luck the two of you will get snowed in over the Valentine's Day weekend!

Love your comment to Greg, as I said it has to be a hoot to live with you.

In the south we decorate with snowmen all over the house, in hopes of bringing one big snow of the year. At your place you are probably afraid to keep the snowmen out after their Christmas duty.

Hi Carol! Thank you! Hope you have a great week too!

Betsy - You are so nice! It is -8 degrees right now, tomorrow it should be -3 with a windchill making it -15. OUCH!!!

Pam - he does read my blog sporadically...then he says "hey, why did you post that?" LOL!

Lady of the Mote - when I first saw the lights in the store, I thought it was candy - lol!

Sarah -glad you like it - thanks!!

Dawn - We are staying till Monday so I'm very happy! :)

Michele - I'm teasing Greg! But I am on a waiting list - it takes so darn long to get one of these dogs - hard to get! I keep hoping maybe he can find another breeder.

Ginger - and the horse! ha,ha!

Hi Ruthie - I love that idea to decorate a tree w/ valentine decorations too!!

Heather - Marvin LOVES dogs! Ridiculously so! He once hopped a fence to get to my neighbors dog to show him kitty love! They had told me at the shelter that they had never seen a cat who loved dogs so much. I'm so glad I got him!

April - I'm prepping the guest room for you right now! Do you drink coffee or tea in the morning? :-)

George - that would be ideal!

Leedra - I have a snowman flag in the front of my house - I'm taking it down immediately! you never told me it was a snow charm! LOL!

Looking at your pictures, it seems to me that log houses and valentine's decorations definitely do go hand in hand. How cozy and romantic, those heart string lights look draped over the balcony. Who knows, you may end up with 5 horses. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I really like the table decorations,... the candles, and all. The garland is cute too. You are making me think,... If I decorate for Valentine's Day do you think a handsome prince will ride up in a pickup truck? Maybe?

Your decorations are adorable, and I will send my Amy dog over to teach you how to beg. lol

Since I haven't taken my Christmas tree down yet, I was thinking of removing some of the ornaments and adding some red hearts and keeping it up for Valentines Day.

Today I begin in insurmountable task of taking down and packing away Christmas decor. I have been tempted to put out a few V-Day things because the house looks bare after Christmas is packed away. Those pups are too cute by the way! Probably tomorrow, I'll be posting on our dog sledding adventure!
