Loving the pine cone bird feeders!

It's 7 degrees here today at the log cabin and the windchill makes it feel like -10. We had just a light dusting of snow last night. My bird feeding station was a flurry of activity this morning and there were fights going on between the Blue Jays and the Woodpeckers. My poor little Chickadees were trying to get some feeding time. So I quickly made up some pine cone bird feeders with peanut butter and seeds and hung them up in the trees. So now there was enough birdy food to go around. All the birds were happy so that makes me happy!

Great photo! If you enlarge it, you can see his little tongue eating the peanut butter.

So nice of you to take care of the little animals.

Brrr Shelley... It's even supposed to get down to zero here tomorrow night. That's miserably cold for us here in the south!!!!!

Glad you have enough food for ALL of your birdies. I keep refilling my feeders and the birds must know the cold is coming since they are eating like crazy today!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Beautiful picture. I know NOTHING about birds, so what kind is that? Nice looking little fellow. Happy to be eating. Lizzie made bird feeders this morning and hung them on the trees. Must have been the morning for that! It has been warm here lately, like spring. weird... stay warm!

As Betsy said, the birds have been flocking around like crazy all day. So far there has been enough food to go around.
You don't really have to send that cold weather down here!!

You sure do take good care of your birds, Shelley! Now I feel guilty! I better go get the peanut butter out! (Besides Joy would love to make some up).

It's supposed to be 14 here tomorrow, which is cold for here in the south!

I didn't realize you got to be at the cabin during the week...that's great! Do you stay there often during the week or mostly weekends?

Have a great day. Stay warm! Enjoy watching your birdies!

I love those pine cone feeders. I used them in Bethany for years. We haven't started putting out feeders yet. Most of ours we left behind for the new owners.

We woke up to minus 11 degrees this morning. Seems your cold weather has arrived here. Our weather icon for the day is an igloo. The wind chills are minus 32!

I've been so busy that I haven't updated our blog in ages. So much to do. I hope to get to it soon!

Anyway...just stopped by to say HI!

I just refilled all my pinecone feeders this evening, as well as all the other feeders. We're not quite as cold down here in Ohio as you are up there in Michigan, but we're still durn cold. Stay warm, and enjoy all the bird activity!

What a cute idea! I could do that!
We are supposed to have temps in the teens. That makes the birds really busy at the feeders. Stay warm!

No fluffy snow on the way, Shelley.. Guess you'll need to put some in a cooler and come on down!!!!

Oh! Yes, pipecleaners would work great! I was going to use yarn but I think pipe cleaners will be better. Thanks! I think I will try to do these with the kiddies next week.
One handed of course!

What a great pic! By the way, we might get a dusting of snow on Sunday. If we do, it will be our first snow all year! LOL

This is another fabulous photo Shelley! I haven't made pinecone feeders for a while. I did make some "bird kabobs" :-) threading bread and cranberries and apples with peanut butter and seed etc ... the squirrels ate most of them though!

Dawn - I try! LOL!

Heather - we're in the negatives today! Help!

Dorothy - the chickadees & woodpeckers are loving them!

Betsy - I just might! wink, wink!

JyLync - my birdy activity had quadrupled!

Monica - I just love the photos of your precious pup!!

Cassie - do you think I can get my own t.v. show doing that?! LOL!

Wendy - the pipecleaners help keep it more secure so the squirrels can't take them away.

Pam - I can't even remember the days when we had light dustings of snow! lol!

Doreen - I see you're feeling the same cold pain! Stay warm!

Cedar - thanks!

Wixy - I'm a birdy mom! lol!

Deb - I like that idea for birdy kabobs!!
