Working on the lake path

Slowly but surely we (well Greg really, I don't have time between hunting for Loons and making fabulous cabin meals!) are clearing the path to get to the lake. Greg purchased some dock footings from a nice gentleman who is on a neighboring lake. In fact he was so nice, he came over and helped Greg stake it. (Thanks B.!)Greg will be building the dock himself. Hmmm.....hmmmmm.....good luck honey!

I can't wait to get Greg's fishing boat in the water. It's driving me crazy seeing it parked in our driveway. I'm having visions that pretty soon we'll have refrigerators and spare tires on our lawn soon if I don't get that boat out of there!

P.S. Want to visit some great blogs? Here are a few of my friends that are well worth the trip! (I got this idea from Wixy who is a great blogger ambassador. Go visit him for sure!)

  1. Want to hear what's going on in the Adirondacks? Then Cedar at Adirondack View is your lady to visit!
  2. One of my newest friends who I'm sure is related to me and makes me laugh out loud - Busy Bee Suz at My Life as a Busy Bee! Don't ask her about the massage she had recently though...
  3. My friend - The Retired One lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I admit - that makes me partial to her! She has lovely photos and funny news stories! And she lives in a log home - a lady after my own heart!

I will profile more blogs in the near future!

Shelley I am cracking up over your comment about the refrigerators and spare tires on the lawn.
That looks like a lot of work clearing a path to the lake. I'm wondering how you put the footings down for the boat ramp, does part of it go under water?

Shelley,

That is going to be beautiful...having a dock there on the lake with the path from your cabin! Gosh, I can't wait to see it! I'm living my log cabin dream through you! Thanks!

Good luck Greg with the dock! :) Isn't it great to have neighbors that will actually come and help out too. Where we lived before, nobody would even wave to you when you passed by, let alone talk to you. Here at the new place, we have people stopping by and introducing themselves to us. Its a nice feeling.

Thank you Shelley for your comments on my blog. They were good! :)

Take Care,
Debbie

Shelley, Everyone of the blogs you shared. look like ones I(the log cabin and mountain lover that I am)would love to visit. Thank you for sharing them with us. The path through the woods to the water seems like a great plan. Maybe when it is finished you can sit on the dock with you coffee.

Thanks for giving my link, Shelley! You are a great blog "neighbor"... You will really enjoy having a boat "at the ready" for the lake. We love it when my son has his boat at our camp. It's the Bayliner I used to own 15 years ago!

I know exactly what you mean about the boat in your driveway...that's where Chris used to keep his and it drove me NUTSO! Good luck with the dock construction...I know that can be quite a job! Thanks for telling us about some of the blogs you enjoy! I'll definitely pop over later!

Deck building is hard work I built a small one off my bedroom last year, (I got a quote from one builder $1600, nearly choked when he told me that) I have double french doors leading out to the back "garden"...the dogs think I did it for them so they can keep tabs on me! I always feel like somebody's watching me...hmm.

Love that your pathway will be here for you to enjoy soon. I just can't imagine how one would build a dock...I suppose you get very wet!!
I have the perfect piece of art for your yard...it will go well with the tires and broke appliances:

I will check out your blog friends, but I am staying away from that busy bee...she is weird.

I should share our canoe pictures! We have 2 in the yard that have been turned into planters! The Coleman Scanoe got a long split in its sides and was no longer sea worthy. The Old Town in the front is the casualty of my Father in law falling asleep behind the wheel somewhere in Northern Manitoba. he hit a highway exit sign and ripped it right off the roof. Luckily the van didn't roll over and all of the fishermen still made it to their final destination. they picked it up from the sheriff on the way back and now it's perched in the front yard filled with flowers!

Needless to say, the canoes were both replaced and are getting ready to head to Manitoba in a couple of weeks!

Refrigerators and spare tires in driveways? I thought you lived in Michigan, not Tennessee! I look forward to seeing the progress Greg's making on the dock.
