Prayer of the Woods (and doggy name winners!)

I've posted the "Prayer of the Woods" before but wanted to share it again. This sign is at Tahquamenon Falls in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm a little bit of a tree hugger! Quick - everybody run before I start lecturing how we have to protect our our natural habitats!

Okay - you still here? Here are the winners of my doggy name contest! They will receive a little token from my nature store! Thank you everyone for entering! Please email your address to shelleyupnorth at gmail dot com.
  1. Copenhagen by Loagan Ranch
  2. Sniffles by Goat Creek Grandma
  3. Annie Bo Bear by Dixie's Doodles

By the way - I had some bookmarks made the other day with one of my photos - so the first five people (U.S. or Canadian only) that make a comment on this post and write specifically that they would like a bookmark - I will send you one!

I would love a bookmark that you created because I know what you create. I liked the prayer of the woods, and I would truly understand why you would be a bit of a tree hugger yourself. If I had a log cabin I think I might have strong feelings about the beautiful trees that surround me,and add so much lovliness to everything. In fact, the other day I told my husband that I feel very protective of the gorgeous big tree outside of our screened-in-porch. Thanks for your many kind comments on my blog.

Congrats to the winners.
I am glad that I am not the only tree hugger around. ;) funny though, you hug nice big OLD trees with lots of leaves, and mine are covered in palm fronds.
Would love a book mark...for I am going to win the book by Betsy.
:0 Don't tell her that I already know I am a winner.

I would love a bookmark created by you ~ your photography leaves me in awe. I used to work at the Tahquamenon Falls when I was 16 & 17, many moons ago, my friend. Congrats to the winners.

I'm probably too late, but I would also like a bookmark. You're not the only tree-hugger I know. I would also like to see Tahquamenon Falls.
By the way, I like the prayer.

Very nice,.. I really like the Prayer of the Woods. And I'm right with you on being a "tree hugger"... without them we'd be in big trouble. Thanks!

That's just plain awesome. What beautiful words. Congrats to the winners! Cool! I'm in the process of clearing some tree sized weeds to allow some of the baby big-boys more sun and room to thrive. I just love coming here to your blog - allows me to see what we'll have eventually once I get this place more in shape. Beautiful.

Hi Shelley:
Congrats to the winners. I think the name you chose for your puppy is perfect.
I am probably not one of the first 5, but if I am, I would love one of your bookmarks for my books. I am always reading something.

NOT FAIR! :) I live in California and while it's only 7:40 here (hey, the dogs have to go out before I sit down at the computer and coffee must be consumed!), it's already what? 9:40 where you are? I'm never gonna win! Next time do it for the LAST 5 posts!! LOL
OK, I'm done pouting and whining! (hehehe)
I loved your post. You tree hug all you want. It's important.
GO GREEN! YAY!
Have a great day!!!

I'm a tree hugger too Shellmo. I love all trees and it makes my heart sad to see them being cut down. In England, we used to be covered in forest, but now, due to man's habitation, the forests have been replaced with houses and roads and it just doesn't seem right. I know we have to live somewhere but .... at least over there we use as little space as possible, but I have noticed that in the U.S. people expect to have enormous yards! That's just an observation people, not a criticism exactly.
Blessings, Star

By the way Shellmo, I would love to be able to use your tree prayer on my new Blog, awitchabroad.blogspot.com
Please could I copy it for my nature Blog?
