Nature's Beauty from a kayak

Greg and I spent the morning of 4th of July on our kayaks. It was such a memorable day - the weather was breezy and in the 70's, the lake a calm sheet of glass. The only sounds were the birds singing, the squirrels chattering, the chipmunks rustling in the woods and the soft sounds of our kayak paddles lapping the water.

I love to wonder what's lurking beneath the lily pads.

A sleepy turtle sunning himself on a fallen log in the lake.

2 baby racoons taking a little swim from shore.

Fresh air, blue skies dotted with fluffy white clouds and spending the day with my husband - I can't think of anything better than this.

Sounds like a perfect way to spend a summer day, Shelley... How did you handle taking a camera on the boat with you??? Did you get a point and shoot one for the water????

Did Scout go with you in the boat??? I assume not since you didn't mention her. How's the relationship between Marvin and Scout now???

Love you my friend,
Betsy

I know those kind of mornings well, only I'd go alone in my canoe. Isn't it wonderful to slip silently along and just poke around the shorelines. I used to do that for hours. I really like the shot of the bow of the kayak against the water.

Baby racoon's swim? Who knew? I sure didn't!

I agree with you, what an absolutely perfect way to spend the day. My husband and I would relish going out there too, only I'd be too afraid to bring my camera in case I tipped the boat over! : /

It was gorgeous around here wasn't it! After last week's dreadful weather we welcomed summer with wide open arms! Looks like you had a very relaxing day. Will Scout be learning how to kayak soon? LOL!

What a fantastic way to spend the morning. LOVE all the pictures.
Couldn't you hear scout from the house??? was she crying for her Mama???

Shelley said...

Busy Bee Suz - you called that one right! I could hear her howling in the cabin as we went by in our kayaks! LOL! Someone probably thought I was murdering a puppy in there!!

What a perfect way to spend the day! Unfortunately Walloon isn't the quietest of lakes, but that's okay - we don't have a house on the lake at home, so I'll take it, noisy power boats, Ski-do's and all.

Shelley - didn't you feel that little dip in the lake back there, when your kayak kind of dipped to one side? That was ME, climbing on board with you!
Gosh, you are living my dream girl. What a gorgeous, gorgeous peaceful setting. Please don't ever stop sharing these wonderful times with us in blogland.

BTW the table is still set, come on by for dinner!! :)
Hugs! Karen

The only disappointing thing about this post, is that there weren't ten more of your gorgeous photos included. Sounds and looks like one PERFECT day. Were you taking a swim with your camera when you captured one of Greg from the back?? Just my curiosity stepping in. Beautiful post!!

Looks great to me. I spent the fourth on my shady deck watching the elk and the rabbits enjoying the shade trees in the pasture. How did Scout do with fireworks? Our charming neighbor had so many it was like ww3. We are tinder dry here and he just didn't care. Grrrrr. But we survived. Today we may get some rain. We really need it. Sharon

Beautiful I think your photos are always so breathtaking. I think the racoons look really cute but me thinks the turtle looks evil!! I think it must be the red on him...
