Greg and I spent the morning of 4th of July on our kayaks. It was such a memorable day - the weather was breezy and in the 70's, the lake a calm sheet of glass. The only sounds were the birds singing, the squirrels chattering, the chipmunks rustling in the woods and the soft sounds of our kayak paddles lapping the water.
I love to wonder what's lurking beneath the lily pads.
A sleepy turtle sunning himself on a fallen log in the lake.
2 baby racoons taking a little swim from shore.
Fresh air, blue skies dotted with fluffy white clouds and spending the day with my husband - I can't think of anything better than this.

hi shelly, that looks so calming, loved the pic with the turtle, what a nice day to be on the lake..
Sounds like a perfect way to spend a summer day, Shelley... How did you handle taking a camera on the boat with you??? Did you get a point and shoot one for the water????
Did Scout go with you in the boat??? I assume not since you didn't mention her. How's the relationship between Marvin and Scout now???
Love you my friend,
Betsy
It looks and sounds like a perfect day.
Beautiful pictures...someday I hope to get a camara like yours:)
Loved the baby racoons!

Wow! Your photo's are wonderful. It sounds like you had a perfect Fourth of july to me. The lake is so beautiful. The lili pads are so pretty. Hugs to Marvin and Scout ♥
This sounds an ideal way to spend the day Shelly. :)
Aaaahhhhh...
these are great, but I especially love the young raccoons!
I know those kind of mornings well, only I'd go alone in my canoe. Isn't it wonderful to slip silently along and just poke around the shorelines. I used to do that for hours. I really like the shot of the bow of the kayak against the water.
Baby racoon's swim? Who knew? I sure didn't!
I agree with you, what an absolutely perfect way to spend the day. My husband and I would relish going out there too, only I'd be too afraid to bring my camera in case I tipped the boat over! : /
It was gorgeous around here wasn't it! After last week's dreadful weather we welcomed summer with wide open arms! Looks like you had a very relaxing day. Will Scout be learning how to kayak soon? LOL!
Beautiful photos, Shelley & a great day at that! Looks like you 2 had a wonderful time!
It looks as if you found the perfect way to spend the Fourth of July. I can't think of a better way to enjoy the lake.
What a fantastic way to spend the morning. LOVE all the pictures.
Couldn't you hear scout from the house??? was she crying for her Mama???
Busy Bee Suz - you called that one right! I could hear her howling in the cabin as we went by in our kayaks! LOL! Someone probably thought I was murdering a puppy in there!!
What a perfect way to spend the day! Unfortunately Walloon isn't the quietest of lakes, but that's okay - we don't have a house on the lake at home, so I'll take it, noisy power boats, Ski-do's and all.
Shelley - didn't you feel that little dip in the lake back there, when your kayak kind of dipped to one side? That was ME, climbing on board with you!
Gosh, you are living my dream girl. What a gorgeous, gorgeous peaceful setting. Please don't ever stop sharing these wonderful times with us in blogland.
BTW the table is still set, come on by for dinner!! :)
Hugs! Karen
Shelley,
That looks like so much fun! I can almost feel the peacefulness. Your photos are beautiful!
Hugs,
Cathie
The only disappointing thing about this post, is that there weren't ten more of your gorgeous photos included. Sounds and looks like one PERFECT day. Were you taking a swim with your camera when you captured one of Greg from the back?? Just my curiosity stepping in. Beautiful post!!
That does look like a fantastic weekend. So tranquil. Love your photos.
Looks great to me. I spent the fourth on my shady deck watching the elk and the rabbits enjoying the shade trees in the pasture. How did Scout do with fireworks? Our charming neighbor had so many it was like ww3. We are tinder dry here and he just didn't care. Grrrrr. But we survived. Today we may get some rain. We really need it. Sharon
I loved the picture of the turtle and the raccoons! They are wonderful.
We spent most of the day out on our boat on July 4th, too....watch for my post later tonight...I caught something patriotic on film too!
Hey Shelley!! I go on canoes and kayaks and I loooooove it!!!! It's cool that you do to!!
Love, Madison
Those photos are so beautiful! Sounds like you guys had a fantastic 4th. Love the sky in all of your photos - and the turtle and baby raccoons are SO precious. :)
Life doesn't get any better Shelley! Enjoy every moment, I think you already know that...
After your great pictures, kayaks have moved up on my "gotta have one" list!
That sounds like such a peaceful way to spend a holiday. I love those photos!
Such great pictures. Made me feel like I was there (o:
Hi Shelley! What a perfect weekend you had. We had identical weather here in the east, 70's and a mild breeze. I bet you guys had a lot of fun and relaxation on the lake. And your nature photos are exceptional (as always). Have a great week! ~John
oh my gosh - so beautiful!!! some of the best photos EVER!
Perfect way to spend the day! We also spent the day by the water a picnic by a quiet lake...and I took my camera along as always too..found some dragonflies, some fun landscapes and a field of sunflowers! Your kayak triips makes me want to move Kayak to the top of my wish list!
Beautiful I think your photos are always so breathtaking. I think the racoons look really cute but me thinks the turtle looks evil!! I think it must be the red on him...
The raccoons were adorable! It looks so peaceful and relaxing! Like you, there's no one I'd rather be with and share those things with, than my Hub!
Connie
