The dog (and cat) days of summer

When summer gathers up her robes of glory,
And, like a dream, glides away.
~ Sarah Helen Whitman

Can you believe that autumn is almost upon us? I already have leaves that have turned red on my maple tree. Pretty soon I will be putting pumpkins on my porch. (And I'm sure the squirrels will have a field day eating them!)

We finally had a hummingbird visit our feeder but alas soon they'll be migrating on.

Scout is dreaming about snow....that's what Bernese Mountain dogs live for!

And Marvin, well let's just say he dreams of a new home for Scout constantly...

Marvins thoughts always make me laugh out loud!!!!!
I am dreaming of autumn. Just the fact that my a/c will only run 19 hours a day instead of 24 will be nice!!!!

I love fall so I'm always ready for it. I'm not so sure I'm ready for snow though. I love to watch it snow and I think it's so beautiful. I just don't like driving in it. Marvin is so cute dreaming of Scout moving. And then poor Scout would be so lonely. Have a happy week.

Poor Marvin... He's lost the run of the entire house now!!!!! Imagine--having to share with a baby brother... Poor Kitty... ha ha

Scout doesn't seem to be bothered by that silly cat...

Glad you finally got a hummer. We finally have some here --but not many.

Can't believe that summer has come and is going so quickly... MERCY!!!!

Love,
Bets

How could it possibly be time for pumpkins on the porch... Where did the summer go? It has been so cool and rainy here it has not been a real summer. I want more (o:

Are you saying that Marvin is not exactly happy that Scout has moved in with him? I thought they would be best friends by now. We're enjoying a cool day here in Tennessee today. It feels great!

Well in California, it's supposed to now FEEL like summer, now that I've come home of course. Triple digits this week. YUCK!!! I thought I had missed all that being gone the month of August. Oh well.
Our trees don't usually lose their leaves until JANUARY!!!! It's a bummer.
Now do you see why I need a little cabin some where where there are FOUR SEASONS? I thought about you every time we drove by a log cabin that I loved.
We drove up to a little gold mining town called Silverton in Colorado and we were sitting at the local Brewery (don't ask, we had our two boys with us) and a couple came in with a Bernese! But she was small, only going to be 80# they said. Isn't Scout going to be bigger than that?
Poor Marvin. His dreaming is about as useless as mine! :)

LOL.... Poor little Marvin ♥ Your deck is absolutely beautiful. I could imagine sitting out there in the fall with a cup of hot tea, coffee, or cocoa. I'm not looking forward to winter though.....

Hi Shelly, well these are surely dog days here the heat is hanging on and I see signs of fall creeping in but so quietly. Im looking forward to Fall in The Rockies! I hope for some color in the Aspens. Do you close up your cabin in Winter or is a year round cabin?
Scout looks to be very calm with a good disposition...Marvin looks very at home in that window!..

Your porch is so pretty. Summer goes by too fast and I'm not pleased about it at all!

Marvin you and Scout will be snuggling to keep warm before you know it ; )

The hummers are slowly beginning to disappear here and the geese have started flying over and honking. They occasionally make a stop at the pond. I mowed down some areas in the garden this morning. It's still August but the weather we have had lately feels like Fall! I've been thinking about pumpkins and mums too!

Love the pics!

That's funny Shelley, the line about Marvin.
Your deck/porch is so nice. I can picture pumpkins lined up on it.
I like the fall too, but not winter.

Fall? I wish we could be thinking of Fall already. It'll still be in the 90's next month (Sept) and finally start feeling more Fall-like mid-October. That doesn't stop me from decorating for Fall though. I still haul all of my Fall decorations out of storage and put it out even when it's 100 degrees outside on Sept 1st! It's the principle of the thing!

I LOVE Marvin! Cats rule, dogs drool!

Shelley it is so nice to see Marvin. I know life is good for that kitty but his life is all topsy turvy! I think autumn has decided to make an early entrance here-no complaint here.

I know! We see the leaf tips changing color here too..and the crisp nights and mornings definitely smell and feel like autumn.
I love the colors, but I am not ready!!!!

It's a cool day in Northern NY today, and it definitely feels like fall's coming. Of course, winter will be here in three weeks... =)

BTW, LOVE that shot of your deck. Makes me want to sit and read with a cup of coffee and have a soft puppy lying on my feet!
