The Chocolate Covered Peanuts Story

There's a funny story in my family about chocolate covered peanuts. My husband and stepson love this story and have made me and my mom tell it several times. Greg thought you might like to hear it. WARNING - it's a little gross.

This takes place about 10 years ago when my aunt was living with my Grandma and helping her out. My grandmother had a notorious sweet tooth. One day while my aunt was out, my grandmother found some chocolate covered peanuts. She hated peanuts but liked chocolate. She proceeded to eat the chocolate around them but spit back out the peanuts into a bowl. She then went to bed.

My aunt comes home later that night. The next morning my grandmother gets up and went over to find the bowl of peanuts to throw away and notices they were all gone. My grandma asks my aunt - what happened to those nuts I was going to throw away? I had eaten the chocolate off of them. My aunt about had a heart attack as she said SHE ATE THEM! She had thought they were regular peanuts that tasted stale. Needless to say she was very upset with my grandmother.....especially later when my grandmother called all of us in the family to tell us what happened.... ha,ha! Anyways, whenever our family sees chocolate covered peanuts - it sends us into hysterical fits of laughter. I'm thinking about buying some Goobers for my aunt this Christmas....what do you think?!

I think the Goobers would be a fun gift for your aunt. Just be very suspicious of any gift of peanuts you get in return!

Oh what a funny story, Shelley.. YES--give your Aunt either some plain peanuts or some choc-covered ones for Christmas... I'd love to see her face when she opens them!!!!

Reminded me of a horrible story about the time my dog ate my mother's false teeth... I'll have to tell that one sometime.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Isn't it fun how stories like this stay with you for a long time. My family has stories like this that have stayed around for years, even though some of us wished they would be forgotten. I will now think of this story every time I see chocolate covered peanuts. Great post!

I was sitting here, eating my salad for supper when I started reading your post. Got to where she was sucking off the chocolate and had to stop and come back so I could finish eating! *laughing* I knew where you were going.

I'd buy her a big bag! :)

Take Care,
Debbie

LOL! That's a hoot.
We bought my son's friend a box of Milk Duds as a gag gift one time. It goes back to when they were in third grad together.
Oh yes, his friend thought he found a Milk Dud on the floor at school and was going to eat it and my son told him to take the sniff test first. Good thing! LOL

MOST definitely get her goobers! I was hoping it wasn't something like mouse poo or something she had been eating. What a relief!

The best family stories are the ones where we can laugh at ourselves (and others, admit it!) We have PLENTY of stories where I am at the butt of the joke but that's what makes our family closer to one another!
