Clean Cabin

As many of you know our log cabin is a weekend place for our family. When we get ready to leave, I clean that place inside and out. I mop the floors, wash the rugs, dust every nook and cranny - you name it! I love the feeling of when I come back the following weekend and the place is spic and span. Now for my downstate home...well lets just say it's not given the same treatment. (I was about to say I treat it like a stepchild but then I remembered I have a stepson - ha,ha! Never mind, some of you won't think that is funny. But some of you might...Suz??)

Now the one thing I don't like to pick up (and make Greg and my stepson do cuz I am the evil stepmother) - DOG POOP! Yep, everyone is running from me now...

Hi Shelley, Your log home is so pretty and immaculate. I know it must be incredible to walk back thru the door on the next visit with no cleaning to do. I'm with you on the dog poop - my least favorite part of owning a dog!

I thought your step child joke is hilarious. I usually refer to something as my: "red headed step child" if it is to be ignored. :)

I don't clean dog poop either, luckily with all our property, it goes into the grass and that is where we have all those nice 'green' spots. Lord know the food is expensive going in, and it is fertilizer coming out!!!

but the cat pooh...that is another story. :0

Great diningroom and Scout is such a lady! She doesn't want to talk about it.LOL We have woods in the back of our home and Stush trained him to go under the wire fence and do his business there")

I try to do the same thing when we leave our log home for any length of time. I love it picked up and clean when we get home. After we are gone a while, when we enter it again, it still smells like fresh wood. I bet yours does too!
And Scout...she is too perfect to leave anything unpleasant anywhere, right? ha

I'll bet it's easier to clean because all your "stuff" is at your other house. Your cabin looks beautiful, and I agree with you on the doggie doo. That's the kids job!
Blessings,
Marcia

I always like to clean before going away on a trip. Makes the house smell like new when you walk back through the door after returning home. Also easier to deal with the dirty laundry you've brought back with you. I do enjoy the chore of picking up the dog poop though. It allows me to wander around the property looking very busy but doesn't require a lot of thought or back breaking work to get the job done.

The good thing about the freeze....if it stays that way...it is so easy to pick up when frozen. Hee hee
I don't clean my camper like that every time I use it. Maybe i should (o:

Hi there Shelly!
Your log home is just beautiful-I can understand why you love to take care of it. I love the feeling of coming home to a clean and cozy space too!
My burdensome "dog job" is the over and over work of vacumming up dog hair! Buck sheds non stop, not to mention the almost daily job of keeping up with his grooming! On the other hand, I knew what I was getting into before I got him-and I love him so much, and he brings such fun and joy to our life that, (I totally understand how you feel about your beautiful Scout!), I'm willing to put up with it!
Have a wonderful weekend at your beautiful cabin!
Blessings to You!

The cabin looks so nice, wish my house looked that clean!! When you close it up for a week, does it stay dust free?

Hi there.
I know exactly what you mean about walking into a sparkling clean house and your log home looks amazing.:-D I do have a question for you. It looks like you have a corner fireplace in your dining room. Is that the kind that you bought and set up hourself? If so, can you let me know where you bought it from? I am looking for a similar electric one for our bedroom. Thanks much... P.S. loved your recommendation on the red ceramic bear plates last year.. I did go out a buy a set for our log cabin :-D

Lifesadance - for some reason when I click on your profile to get to your blog - it says profile not found. Will you give me your blog address? It's an electric fireplace we received as a gift from my father. He bought it at Lowes (which has a great selection by the way.)

WOW I guess its been a while since I visited you...your puppy is now a DOG! She grew so big! The cabin looks clean as a whistle!! I know what ya mean about doggie poop...here my dogs go into the woods so thats not a problem. But when I dog sit at my sisters I have to use the Mutt Mitt! Pretty disgusting but has to be done!

Hi Shelley, thanks for the info on the stove. I will definitely check out lowes, we are there so frequently. I have had trouble once in while too, with blogspot, not sure why. Anyway my blog is
www.onewritersrantings.blogspot.com. I found your blog about a year ago and it inspired me to start my own, but it did take me about a year to get my butt in gear to start writing it. That's why mine starts in the middle of our building :->
Again, thanks for the info-keep on blogging.
