A snowy morning

We had over two feet of snow up at the log cabin. It was so beautiful but we had a lot of digging out to do. First priority was for Greg to dig out a path to my bird feeders! Don't want to make those birdys angry....

The sun is just starting to peek out. The lake has a light covering of snow on it. It's going to be a beautiful day.

I don't see any of my neighbors out on their decks. Too bad. I was going to wave to them while wearing my silly cat pajamas....

Well here's a nice visitor....the downy woodpecker. Let's invite him in for a nice cup of hot chocolate. We won't mention the fight he had earlier with the nuthatch....

Two feet, heh? Good (not great--too powdery and you sink too deeply with each step) for snowshoes! Sounds like the lake effect from Lake Michigan does indeed reach your place. The silence from all that white muffling powder on the ground must have been exquisite. I hope you enjoyed as much as you worked.

I want to place my order for two feet of the white stuff to be delivered Christmas Eve! *lol*

The pictures are great Shelley. Too bad the neighbors weren't out... they won't know what they missed. :)

Stay Warm,
Debbie

Wow, nice snow!
We have a total of - nothing!!!!!
Isn't that ridiculous? Almost Christmas and no snow in NY. Well, where I am anyway, north of us there is lots of snow.

Oh my, how beautiful! Great photos. In between the digging out, during those "rest" periods, I'll bet you could hear everything...the more snow, the better everything sounds.

That's a lot of snow even for someone who doesn't know squat about snow!! But Shelly it's beautiful!!! I think you need to get some glow in the dark pj pants with a top that has one of those blinking ornaments on it!! You are bound to make friends with your neighbors then,LOL.

Two feet of snow, Shelley???? Woooooo.. I cannot imagine that much!!!! I hope we get some for Christmas --but who knows???!!!

Glad you got there to feed your birds. I'm sure they were 'waiting' for you to get there... You must have a 4-wheel drive... Our car would never get to the cabin with that much snow.

Thanks for sharing. WOW!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

I must admit that the snow looks beautiful. I'm not sure I'm ready for two feet down here, but I'm hoping you'll post more pictures for us to enjoy.

and what an awesome shot of Mr. Downy; so glad you have forgiven him, I'm sure he was just grouchy due to all the snow.

So beautiful. I would love to sit wrapped up in a cuddly robe, sipping hot chocolate and looking outside at the crisp white snow. Yeah, it was 80 here.

More great pictures from our own professional nature photographer. I want snow like that. I smile everytime I think of you out on the porch in your pjs, waving to your neighbors. Hope the snow stays until Christmas.

Shelley!
Sigh!
Love the snow! Oh SHelley! Love the snow!
I can't believe it's been a month since I was in Michigan! I miss all the birds! Sally had feeders all over her deck - FInches, Woodpeckers, Cardinals, oh and let's not forget the possums and the groundhogs - both of which she say have not been back since I left . . . hmmmmm . . I don't know if that is a compliment or not! DOn't like the possum, but LOVED the groundhog. He was waaaayyy adorable.
Will you spend Christmas at the cabin or stay home and then escape there for the weeknd?
Are you done with finals? Justin finished his last two exams today - WHEW! He looked at me and said "Mom! I don't know what to do with all my free time!"
Well . . . it's late, and he isn't home so I ams assuming he found SOMETHING to do with it! LOL.
HUGS! Karen

I loved the path to the bird feeders. We just started feeding ours a few months ago, and they already come knocking on the door if we forget to put the food out. Well, they fly up to our slider, and let us know we've forgotten :-) The woodpecker is beautiful. I love your photos.

Marcia
