Part of the allure of the northern Michigan towns for me is the quaintness of the downtowns. I love all the events they have whether it be a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, a maple syrup festival or better yet - a parade! Last week we attended Gaylord's St. Patrick's day parade and we took Scout with us. The day was rainy and dreary but we still had fun.
I love Gaylord's downtown, it is styled in an Alpine Swiss theme. Its' sister city is Pontresina, Switzerland. There are so many cute shops here and great restaurants.
Can you guess who was Scout's favorite in the parade?
Hey - doesn't it look like Greg is choking Scout?!
Here comes the cops! Except I think they've been drinking some of that green beer...
Just kidding! Greg was adjusting Scout's collar as she got very excited at that Irish Setter boy in the parade. I told her she's too young to date. In fact, she's never allowed to date!
I think this guy needs a leash...
I am so looking forward to sunny days! Trying to decide what I'm going to grow in my garden this year. What will you be planting?

Shelley,
Isn't Gaylord a fun little town? I too love all of the quaint little shops & Alpen Fest is always fun. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Spring. Scout is sure growing.
Hugs,
Pam
This looks like fun.
I think Greg was threatening Scout. Please send her here asap for her own safety!
Maple syrup festival? Sounds sticky.
You know what I am growing...everything I can!!!
Seriously, send Scout. Please. We need her here and we won't choke her.
Bless those lovely days of merriment and open heart...
Poor Scout... She is just SO abused!!!! I can tell!!!! ha ha
Neat little parade... Reminds me of my hometown in VA... We used to have alot of small-town parades.
Happy Spring to you and Greg.. We are waiting to see some of our spring flowers... So far--only Crocuses...
Hugs,
Betsy
Awwwww...seeing that Irish Setter made me lonesome for ours...we had one dear, dear Setter for over 14 years until she died of cancer...she was so wonderful with our kids as they were growing up. I can see why Scout wanted a date. ha
Looks like a wonderful parade, and it was so cute that you two went!!
Even though it was rainy it looked like alot of fun...Scout sure is beautiful Shelley:)
The candle you mentioned in a comment on my blog was a gift but I think someone in blogland sales them, when I find out I'll let you know:)

I think Scout is in love! HA! Great pictures. Looks like you had a fun day. :)
I love a small town parade. One of the best things about our condo in Powell River is that the front porch overlooks the old main street and that's where they have all the parades and festivals. Plus we get a birds eye view. - Margy
I love small town parades too
Beautiful Scout is getting so big
Snow on the ground here
but I am sure I will plant something (o:

Hi Shelley, Fun to see your hometown pictures and Scout looks so sweet! I always enjoyed picking up the candy/gum at our local parade!!!
How fun! I think you and Scout should be IN the parade next year! I'll bet you can find some cute shamrock jammies to wear! I think Gaylord looks like a perectly lovely town to visit! I just might have to plan a trip and crash at your place!

Hi Shelly, I love all of the quaint little towns of Michigan too. The parade looks like it was so much fun! Scout is such a beautiful girl. I am so looking forward to spring weather. We don't have a garden any more but we maintained one for years with everything from pumpkins, to corn, and squash.
Cute town! Scout is getting so big! She's beautiful and I'd love to give her a big hug! I love BIG dogs.
Small town parades are so much fun. It seems like Gaylord would be a great town to visit. I thought of you yesterday when I saw Scout's twin:)with her head out of the window of the car next to me. What nice looking dogs they are.
I only have flowers growing in my small garden...roses, daisies(Becky) and peonies.
Hello Shelly
thank you for the kind comments on my blog...love your beautiful blog here and meeting another Michigan gal...I'm outside Ann Arbor...wishing I could live along the Mackinac Straits! :) Gaylord is always a stop on our way "up north" loved seeing the town and Scout is adorable...he and my "Hailey" would make great friends!
