Log Cabin Projects

We've had our log cabin for almost 3 years now and there's still many projects to complete. But here's a few things we completed recently......(after I promised Greg I'd make his favorite dinner and have a cold beer waiting for him!)

Greg painted our plain ole door a nice hunter green. Now I want to dress up the side and front deck with adirondack chairs, a bench with pillows and a margarita machine.

We have a sloping lot so we wanted to make it simpler to get to the lake side. Greg is installing some stairs. Scout said it doesn't matter to her, she'll still pole vault them and land a perfect 10 on the ground!

Oh, and did I mention that our resident chipmunk is doing some landscaping of his own?!

those chippies will definitely sculpture out it's own landscaping for sure! Be careful..one dug up bulbs on me last year! ha
On a side note, what kind of paint did he use on that door? We have metal doors like that in a few places and I was afraid regular paint would streak...did he use spray paint and was it made for metal rather than wood? I would like to paint ours...
thanks for any info you can give me!

Hi Shelley, I love the green door and Greg's steps look great. You will have so much fun decorating the porch. That chipmunk is the cutest!

Love the green door!

I just hope that the Chipmunks don't dig holes under and around your house. They have made a mess of our driveway--and flowerbeds ---and the areas near the house... They dig DEEP and cause alot of destruction. Cute little guys---but we hate 'em!!!!

Congrats to Greg for building the steps for you and also the new green door...

What's the latest on the loons?
Hugs,
Betsy

More nut trees! YES! I think so too. :D

I can just see that porch all decked out the way you'd like it. The door looks great!

Dear Shelley, I'm glad you did this post and mentioned that it's been 3 years since you raised your cabin---YOU were the one who got me addicted to blogging!! I read about your blog in one of my log cabin magazines and went online to find it. The rest, is history!! So, Congrats and Thank you!! You were one of my inspirations.

I just recently found your blog and am interested in all things LOG! We are building a log home on our newly purchased acreage in upstate NY. LOVE the green. I have already picked the green shingles for our roof. Next week the contractor is building our barn - log of course and the same green (doors, roof, windows) is being used for the barn.

I'll be following your progress as you complete projects as soon it will be our major project!

What fun...you are sharing more posts and I enjoy seeing more pictures. I like the choice of paint color on the door. The chipmuck was so cute. Keep the nature photography coming. I find it so interesting.

Funny how a guy will do just about anything for food and beer. Well, what ever get them crack-a-lackin'....

I love your green door! Green is probably my favorite color next to the yellow of a sunflower! Good luck with all your projects. I especially like the plans for the porch... ah... a margarita machine! It sounds perfect!

I am gonna miss being able to check your blog and read what is going on at the cabin. Its going to be a long seven weeks... :(

*hugs*
Take Care,
Debbie

Hmmmm...seems like Greg has his work cut out for him. But what is your role in all this Shelley? Quality control, I bet!

Three years..wow! Just about as long as I've been in my house. Time sure flies, doesn't it? But the work never ends!

Hope you guys have a great weekend, and tell that chipmunk to check with the squirrel if he's running outta nuts! :-)

I like the green for the door. Very pretty. I can't believe you got the picture of the fox! You take the most amazing pictures. I just had a margarita the other night. That sounds like a delicious way to relax on your deck.

This is such a beautiful home Shelley and I am sure it must be wonderful to live in it. Here we do not make much use of logs as everything is bricks and it does not blend in very well with the environment.

So, I am curious. What is Greg's favorite dinner?! The door looks great! Those little chipmunkers are cute but man they are pests :) Our nut trees are already going crazy this year!

Sometimes it seems the work never ends, doesn't it? But, the hard work always pays off with beautiful results. Enjoy!

You are further along than we are and we have had our cabin in the woods for nearly 10 yrs. already....time just gets away when we cannot always be there. Nice work...we painted our doors green too...love the woodsy look, besides, it's just a cabin thing to do.
Now, about that margarita machine?
I'll be right there.

Love the green door. It fits right in with the 'woodsy' decor.
You better make those porch chairs comfy!!! I can just picture you sitting there waving at the neighbors. Maybe they will come on over now that you're going to have steps up to the cabin. LOL
