A walk in the woods

Pursue some path, however narrow and crooked, in which you can walk with love and reverence.
-Henry David Thoreau

Greg's parents have a cottage on 20 acres nearby to our log cabin. The setting is so beautiful filled with so many old trees. One cool morning, the four of us along with Scout went on a hike.

Here's Greg's dad leading the way. He wins the prize for being the fastest walker.

I did notice one thing. Greg and his dad walk alike.

I loved this photo of Greg's dad in the middle of the valley, breathing in the fresh clean air and enjoying the moment.

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
-Henry David Thoreau

I'm happy to see you post Shelley. I've missed you! What a lovely place for a cottage. I know you all enjoyed being out on a beautiful day. Give a hug to Scout for me.

Such a beautiful post, pics, and poem. I love nature and all it has to offer.
We have 6 acres of land and have only cleared what is needed. Any amount of beautiful land rather a lot or a little should be valued as gold. IMO
Thank you for this post.

Wow, that's gorgeous! Wish I could be there with you. We haven't been up to our cabin in a long time. No time with Glen being gone all the time. I've missed you! Hope all is well. Today is my daughter's birthday! So come by my blog and visit.

Beautiful Shelley! I love the 2nd Thoreau quote. CH walks, and looks just like his Dad from the back.

So green and pretty there... we are pretty dry here.

So peaceful and relaxing! Of course I AM jealous you know, we still are hitting 90 degrees down here and I see your men folk in sweat pants!!

Dave and I are headed to Banff and Jasper on Saturday for 10 days of hiking and fun. I have to dig out some of my warmer clothes since they're buried deep in my closet.

It'll be nice to have the Fall experience with a chill in the air and a fire burning inside the Lodge!

A slow, deliberate walk in the woods can be a wonderful opportunity to clear the cobwebs out of your mind.
