Cabin Loft

I love the loft in our log cabin. I love being able to look out the front windows to see a higher view of the lake. I love being able to survey the living room downstairs and feel like I'm looking down on my log kingdom. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it. Maybe part of it can be a bunk house for my stepson and his cousins. I can put up a folding partition wall (maybe a wildlife screen) and then create a separate sitting area with comfy couches whereby you could read and listen to music. Then I think about that beautiful rustic writing desk I saw in a log furniture magazine and imagine creating a little office. I've also seen where people have created a game room area and placed a pool table upstairs. I would recommend to anyone building a log cabin, that a loft is a necessity. There is just so many creative things you can do with it - and the best part is the views!

I like loft areas and I agree they should be a must have in a log cabin. As far as your decorating theme, I think wildlife is a good theme. We have actually decorated our sons' nursery in an outdoors/log cabin theme. We did this partly because we were almost done decorating with this theme when we found out we were pregnant with our first and it was something different from the normal baby stuff that you find on the market. It also helps that my husband is a collector of moose memorabilia.

If the pictures of wildlife that you have posted are pictures that you took you need to incorporate those into your decor, especially the bald eagle. I would have that enlarged and framed, the bird is just gorgeous.

Looks beautiful!! Did you spend the weekend again? We do not have a loft, I really don't regret it because we utilized all the space...but it is beautiful. Glad you are so excited!!

I get more jealous every time you post new pictures. I agree with Christy that whatever type of space you choose for the loft, a wildlife theme with some of the pictures you have taken would be perfect.

Keep posting. I am enjoying seeing your dream come to life.

Wow.... I love the new blog layout!!! Rebecca did my five pines blog layout. She does a wonderful job. I especially like the colors you picked out. Goes well with your cabin/nature theme.

Very nice.....

Christy - I like your ideas. I will have to sort thru my eagle pics. Thanks! S.

I don't feel like you copied me at all. I was hoping that Rebecca would get some business off of my design.

Sometimes people ask me what it costs to have a blog. They are usually surprised when I tell them it's absolutely free. I enjoy it so much and my photography that I figured I deserved to be able to purchase a personal design.

Glad you decided to also....
