Going "Up North"

As I am getting ready to go "Up North" tomorrow to check on our cabin, I am reminded of a poem I discovered at a little shop in Gaylord. It perfectly describes the feeling I get when I'm in Northern Michigan.

Up North

It's the place people go to escape...
A place made of cabins, pine trees
and lakes.
But, no matter how far you drive...
There's no sign to say, "you've arrived,"
So, just follow your heart til you find...
your special place that brings peace of mind.
As you breathe in the air and unwind...
Your cares are all left behind.
It's no mystery where the "northwoods" start
When you're "Up North" you'll know...
in your heart.

Hope you don't mind, but I think I am going to have to "steal" this poem! It will fit perfectly in my photo scrapblog of our summer trips "up north" (to Upper Michigan)!!!

I love this poem!! May I borrow it also -- perhaps for my log cabin blog?

It is almost Spring here -- how about "up north"?

Have a great visit to the cabin.

Hi ...It's been awhile since I checked your blog and your progress on your log cabin. It's beautiful !!! I agree with you that Log cabins must have a loft. We have one. My office is in half of it and I can look down and enjoy the scene downstairs and also feel like I'm not tucked away someplace away from activities that might be going on.

We're just about finished redoing our foyer. Bought new lights. I know you'd love them.

Or: http://adirondackcountrystore.com/index.html Then click on catalog..then page 17

This store is in my home town. I got the one on the left and the larger one. They are expensive, but I liked them and I like to buy locally. I'm their best customer.!
