Log Cabin Loft

We are weekend warriors at our log home so when we do home improvement projects, we have limited time in which to do them. I decided it's time to carpet the loft. (Especially when it sounds like a whole army is occupying the cabin when my stepson and his cousins are running around up there.)

I called the local carpet store and told them I have 3 questions - do they have enough carpeting in stock to finish a 500 SF loft, how much and can you schedule the installers on Monday to come. There was a long silence at the other end of the line and I immediately thought - uh, oh - I'm in Type A mode and acting like a fudgie. For those that don't know, a fudgie is a person who lives in southern Michigan but likes to visit up north and acts like the typical tourist that always wants to buy fudge up there or doing something type A that the northerners don't appreciate. But then the person was really nice and said okay and we'll see you on Saturday. Whew!

Check out some of the colors I'm thinking about below and let me know what YOU think! Thanks!

Antico

Cinnamon Toast

Green Tea

Cypress

I think I am partial to Cypress but I really like all of them! Even before I looked at the colors I was thinking "maybe something greenish"

Loft really looks nice!

I put down green carpet when we built our home and I really liked it then and am OK with it today BUT I wouldn't do green again and the reason is that green is one of those colors that has many shades to it and there is always something new and dated in Green....so I say anything but Green : )Just my vote....don't want to be looked as "oh I love your avacodo green carpet ". Ok so you are WAY to young to know what I'm talking about.....cause now they would call it "wasubi green".
Ok I've rambled way to long need to go update my own blog ! One last thing somebody told me exactly what I just told you and I have green so if you end up with it I understand completely : )

I love the antico...I really love the wood floor, but if you need carpet, my choice is the antico!

Wendy - hoping the loft looks better after this weekend!

Chris - I think you just splashed cold water on my face - you're right about the shades of greens...I have visions of the brady bunch in my head. THANK YOU!

Penny - I had thought about the wood floor since I have it on the main level - but then decided the carpet was in my current budget. I'm glad you like the Antico!

My first choices were the cinnamon toast and the green tea...the green tea looks a bit grayish, is it? I was kinda leaning toward the green being good to break up all the already brown, but after reading the comments, are we staying away from the green?? cinnamon toast then I guess for me.

I like antico. That way you can be creative with all your furniture and fabrics! It is a beautiful room!

I like the cinnamon toast. It looks to have the same shades as the logs. It also has a warmer look to it than the antico. When I think log cabin I think warm and inviting. Just my two cents worth.

Cinnamon is a great neutral color that will be easy to compliment with furnishings and what nots. Just my redneck opinion...

The one that's dog friendly.
So that would be none. :)

Reliv - looks like I'll have to get some "eye popping color" furniture!

Picket fence - I agree - thank you!

Christy - that's exactly the feeling I want to create - warm and cozy.

Darla - I think the a version close to cinnamon and antico now sounds good!

Jen- but then I can't have him scratching up the wood floors either. Either way - I lose! :-)

The Cypress, no contest. I hate the dated shades of green too, but assuming this is not one of those, I would never get tired of it.

Antico...Definitely Antico. You don't want to put something too dark up in the loft. The ceiling is lower than the first floor living area and it will just make the loft that much darker.

(Here in north-central PA amongst the hills of the Northern Tier outsiders are Flatlanders. Up in the Adirondacks they're called the same thing, but since most are seasonal and drop lots of $$$ they smile when they say it...mostly.)

I like them all! I have all wood floors throughout my home and think they are easier to take care of. My favorite is the antico. Thanks for the log home contest information. I went and signed up!

cinnamon toast would make it too pink, reflecting off the wood in my opinion. I like the last one, can't remember the name of it or the first one.

Jennifer - I've always liked green - but now everyone has scared me plenty well away from it - lol!

Joated - the flatlander term is making its way in Mich. as well!

Catherine - thank you for your vote!

sandy- you're right about the pink aspect...

Carole = thank you for coming by and weighing in!
