Gaylord, Michigan has miles of trails for ATVs and snowmobiles. On one of these roads, Greg has discovered "free rocks!" He drives down these trails, tossing the rocks into the back to be used for our future landscaping.
This past weekend we didn't really concentrate on our log home projects. It was nice to be carefree (never mind the popped deck board, the bathtub drain that doesn't work....you get the idea.) Instead, I took my first ride on Greg's "Rhino" and joined him on his rock hunt. It was a great sunny day going through the woods.....seeing the leaves starting to change....
The projects can wait until next weekend.

glad you relaxed and enjoyed yourself. Looks like a beautiful place PLUS free rocks?? wow - what could beat that?
Love riding around and collecting rocks! One of my family's favorite past times.
Hi there!
Thanks for stopping by. I will have to try and play catch up with your blog since I have been gone for over 2 weeks! I am gradually posting about our trip along with photos. If you liked my previous sunset photo in Colorado wait until you see today's sunset offering!

Well, I certainly think it was much more fun to go ATV'ing rather than worry about those pesky log home projects. And oh how I love that "Rhino".
I can't wait for the day I can wake up in the log home and declare a "day of fun things"...
With the current "push" to get ourselves in and somewhat settled it appears the carefree days are not on the schedule in the near future.
And now I'm off to find out why the painter did not show up today to finish the exterior staining. It's always something...
Chores can always wait. Time flies by pretty quickly. I'm adding you to my favorites list too (I thought I already had)!

I'm s glad you posted these, gives one a feel for the area. great shots.
Free is good; even if all you get is a rock. :P
Beautiful country up there.
Michele/Reliv - yes - it's all about the free rocks! LOL!
Brandi - I didn't realize how many other people collected rocks until we started!
Constance - I'll be on over!
Dianne - I totally empathize with the painter not showing! We had an elusive electrician that dissappered for 2 weeks!!
Catherine - I agree on that!
sandy - glad you liked seeing the area - Gaylord is beautiful!
Jen - I LOVE free things! :-)
This cracks me up. I can see my parents doing this very thing... looks like fun - and pretty scenery too!
Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the roses. Especially in the Fall when the leaves are changing color and in the spring when there;s new life everywhere.
Hey I do the same thing! Those rocks will make some beautiful stonework in the house when I am done. I am also building a stone work outdoor kitchen with all the rocks I have collected!
