Guests at the Log Cabin - Part III

I have to say one of the best parts about having this log cabin is all the friends that want to come visit us! A log cabin on a lake is certainly more enticing than my suburban home downstate. I love showing them around my town. My friend Kim and her boyfriend Mike came to visit us for a couple days - and I think Kim is competing for best guest of the year. She brought enough food to feed Greg and I for the next several months! (Either that or maybe she wants to move in.......she did have a lot of luggage with her...hmmmm.....just kidding Kim!)

I'm constantly looking for new items to add to my guest room to make it more cozy and inviting! I think warm blankets and decorative touches help.

I had this little gift box filled with goodies for my friends when they arrived. I think they liked it!

I was happy we were able to take our friends to one of our favorite places - Hartwick Pines State Park. It's nice when your friends enjoy the outdoors as much as you do.

It's wonderful when friends can share on the same level, the things that bring you joy. We recently had a housefull and I am sure that I will not win Hostess of the Year! Too many people and not nearly enough time to devote to all of them! I know they understood but I sure missed my one-on-one time!

Now that our daughter is married and gone (yikes, that sounds really sad to me this morning) we are going to change her bedroom. We don't have enough spare room to make it into a guest bedroom, that'll happen I'm guessing when Charlie flies the nest (not too soon, my emotions aren't ready to even contemplate that yet!) For now, we are going to move some of our milk bottle collection in there and also my scrapbooking stuff.

We're going to start painting in there on Saturday. Right now it's just too sad to walk into her room with its brightly colored, yellow walls and not see her or her stuff in there. Can you tell I am having a rough morning?

sigh

Gosh I love that "goodie box"! And what do you fill it with???

I guess I'll just have to come visit and check it out for myself!

I'm glad you had such nice weather that you could take advantage of the park. Although, if they enjoy the outdoors as much as you (and the snow) I'm betting even a walk in the park during a blizzard would appeal to them!

Sandi - Aw shucks!

Connie - I bet you are a good hostess! Congrats again on your daughter's marriage!

Hi Dianne - you're right - I would've walked in the snow too!

Carol - I filled it w/ chocolates, a scented candle and scented shampoos. I loved that box too - I got it at garden ridge.

Michele - the more, the merrier!

There's nothin' better than showing off your new cabin to special friends!!!!! We just got home from our visit to a cabin in the Smokies. The cabin's name was Bunny Brook (there was a brook out back) --and there were bunnies ALL over the cabin. Too Cute!
