Let's peek at my neighbors!

I want to introduce you to some of my neighbors. I'm a social person and I'm really hoping to get to know more of my neighbors and invite them over. Greg says maybe if I didn't stand out on the deck in my crazy sheep or kitty pajamas snapping photos, maybe they would come over.

This is the house across the lake from me. These are the people I wave to when I'm wearing my fleece pajamas. They don't wave back. I don't think they can see me. I don't think they are ignoring me....hmmmm. Anyways - an older lady with her son and daughter in law live here. The older lady I met at the Lake Association picnic and she's very nice - a big shot now in the community. I called one weekend to invite her over to a get together. Never got a call back. Maybe she was busy. Maybe they don't like my pajamas.

There is a wooded lot that separates my property from this yellow house. The lady in this house introduced herself to me this past summer - she was the one along with a friend who pulled her truck into my driveway at 12:00 a.m. one summer night and flashed their lights into my cabin. They didn't know I was home. They scared me because I thought someone was casing the joint. Anyways, she apologized and seems nice. Now should I pull up my Mariner in her driveway and give her a friendly honk at 2:00 a.m.? No, I'm just kidding. Really.

This family is on the other end of the lake and their blue house, blue deck, blue boat has caught my interest. Are they a blue family? Perhaps they like the blue man group? Perhaps they look at my house and think - look at all that wood - they must be boring! Anyways, I'll have to go introduce myself because I saw that they have a chocolate labrador dog I must pet!

Wouldn't you like to be MY NEIGHBOR???

I would adore being your neighbor! I just bought some flannel leopard pj's....we would look great waving to each other from our decks! I love neighborhood get togethers. Are there any homes for sale in your neighborhood?

Can't figure out some people,... I would have thought that lady would want to visit and be friendly. Hey, Shelley,..... I'm waving to you from over in the Adirondacks!

I'll be your neighbor and I'll share your loons with you too.

We are neighbors Shelley. It's just that there's a little more distance (ok, so there's several states) between our houses and we can't see each other from our decks. But I don't mind your kitty pj's. In fact I think they're really cute. So here's a big wave from my deck in NH to your deck in MI. BTW, I have some lavender fleece pj's with feet attached on the bottom. Hope you like them. -Sandy

Hmmmmmmm Shelley... I have a feeling you need to go somewhere else to find some friendly neighbors... Yipes--maybe they all want their privacy!!!????

BUT---if I were your neighbor, we'd be the best of friends. I'd wear my bright purple sweat suit outside and wave back!!!!

I was surprised that the blue people didn't have a blue dog also... Ha Ha Ha.. Maybe he wears a blue sweater!!!

Betsy

You bet I would, Shelley! We'd match in our flannel PJs! (Except I don't have any sheep ones!) But I'd match you too in the home department, because mine would definitely be wood! :)

Isn't there such a thing as blogger neighbors??? That is what we all are. Your comment about letting little ones use paint...depends on the age. Always a mess. For fun kid ideas to use when you have the kids over, go to www.flipflopsandapplesauce.blogspot.com she has great crafty ideas. (o: What I want to know is what was that car doing in your drive in the middle of the night....crazy.

I'll wear my one piece pj's with little red hearts on them...now with my funny body...its hilarious! I doubt anyone would want to be your neighbor if they saw me standing next to you on the deck!

Leedra said...

Do you just use binoculars or a telescope to spy on them?

The older lady is about the age I thought you were until you finally posted us a photo. Right? :)

Whenever I venture outside in my fleece pajamas, my neighbors don't wave at me, either. Rather, they quickly run back inside. It's gotta be those red polka-dots and hearts! :-)

Not unless that photo you have posted was taken 10 years ago! :)

I would love to be your neighbor! We could compare our fleece WORK PAJAMAS ! I have some with reindeer and some with sheep. You could pet my Labradors and show me some bird photography tips!

Makes me think of that Mr. Rogers' song..."Won't you be my neighbor?" :) Yep...I definitely would! I just love the scenery where you live...I could lose myself (literally!) in all those woods!

Where we live (suburbs of Atlanta), people just don't visit like we're used to. We live on a busy road with about ten or so houses on our street. I bet I've talked to and seen the neighbors on either side of us maybe six times in the 3 1/2 years we've lived here...very odd to me. In our other neighborhood in TN., we got together and visited often with our neighbors. Not sure if it's the area we live in, or just that times are changing.

Leedra - last month. I posted the secret # on your blog. Guard it w/ your life!

Kathy B - I would love to play w/ those labs!!

April - LOL - I did think about putting up a you tube video of Mr. Rogers! I wonder if times are changing too....

I'd love to be your neighbor, but can we wait until spring? All that snow looks really really COLD lol

Shelley, You crack me up. I would love to be your neighbor. When we built our log home in the middle of our 13 acres of woods,a small plane would keep circling our place as I too sat in my pj's having my morning coffee on the deck. This went on for days. Finally I made a sign (A big one) and when he flew by I held it up. It said "do you take sugar or cream in your coffee". He tipped his wings and flew away. LOL Finally met him a few years later. He apologized, said he just loved our home. I just laughed and said I missed his visits. Everyone should meet their neighbors, even if they are fly bys. :-) Sharon

Oh, how I would love to be your neighbor! Maybe I will be someday, since my daughter and son-in-law gave my husband a subscription to a "log cabin" magazine. He was thrilled!! Maybe someday I will live in a log cabin, too. Coffee with you would be fun.

Shelley said...

NC - don't worry, you don't have to get flannels! LOL!

Darla - you're right. Maybe I need to up the ante...

Patty - yes, I will let you wait till spring! :) However, I don't know if it's coming back! LOL!

Sharon - that's a great story! Kudos to you for holding the sign up!! LOL!!!

Judy - I've been addicted to those log cabin magazines for many years! There's a vacant lot next to me where you can build one! :)

Shelley said...

Sarah - sorry - I almost missed you! Yes - wearing PJs to the mailbox is perfectly acceptable to me!!!

Yes, I would love to be your neighbor. I told my husband when we moved here that I thought I had moved into June Ward's home where neighbors deliver cookies and come for coffee. I would bring you some cookies for sure and we could enjoy them in our flannel jammies.
Hugs,
Cathie

hmmm... i wonder what you would say if we were your neighbor! probably that those are the people that usually have a crowd of cars over for parties adn never invite the neighbors!! but really... mostly it is just boy scouts, and would you really want to come over for that? even i don't want to be here! i loved your peek at the neighbors... and if they don't love your jammies, well, maybe they aren't worth knowing!
