The sled hill is calling me

sled hill

It's been 10 days since I've been at the log cabin. I know it misses me. The birds miss me. The black squirrels miss me. The neighbor I wave to across the way misses me (though I'm sure they're still scratching their head saying why is that girl in the funny sheep pajamas always waving to us?) And the sled hill is calling to me - challenging me to bring my sled and come racing down its hill. In good time Mr. Sled Hill. I am slowly recovering from the flu (or maybe food poisoning!) and have moved up to chicken noodle soup. My strength is building. I am figuring out what my sled of choice will be - a dish slider or an inner tube. I'll let it be a surprise. But never fear, I will see you soon enough!

That hill and that log cabin and even the neighbors are very sad since you aren't there. But--they and YOU know that you'll be there soon!!!

Keep feeling better--and don't RUSH it.
Happy 2009.
Hugs,
Betsy

That looks like a perfect sled hill! Not too steep, but steep enough. Glad you are on the mend. My dad made me a sled when I was little. It was all wood with a flat surface to sit on. The runners were 2" wide covered is slick metal. That sled could really rip and it was hard to stay on, even with its rope handle.

We are moving the last of our personal items and furnishings from Los Angeles to Belligham since our condo finally sold (we sure know how to pick the best time to sell). I don't need the sled any more, but it has too much sentimental value to leave behind. Maybe I'll just have to take it out and find a sled hill of my own for old times sake. - Margy

When I taught at a college in North Carolina Florida students would sneak trays out of the cafeteria to use as sleds. I'm glad you're feeling better.

Sorry to hear that you have been sick! Just to make you feel better, after the last storm, it's very icy up north. I hope, someday, that my cardiologist will let me slide down a hill...and ride thrill rides again...sigh. Can't wait to see photo's of you sliding down the hill!

PS What a bummer about the spammer. I noticed on your Northern Michigan blog that you don't have word verification. I wonder if that helps.

Sandi - Thank you very much!

lady of the Mote - thank you - can't wait to have a hearty meal!

Betsy - I think it won't be till next Friday until we can get there so you know I'll be anxious! :-)

Cedar - I hope so! :)

Dawn - lol! Maybe I can talk the hubby into buying me a luge!

Margy - that sled sounds like a treasure! I would use it as a decoration on my cabin walls if I had something like that! Thanks for stopping by!

Michelle - thank you! Can't wait to be 100%.

George - LOL! When I was a young girl waitressing at this Italian restaurant - we would take our big trays and go sledding too after work!

Jane - tomorrow I might get crazy and have chicken rice soup - lol!

Patty - it's funny - I haven't been sledding in years but driving by this hill has brought up the urge in me!

Dawnie - you have the right snacks in mind! :)

Denise - glad to have you back! Take it easy - I don't think I want you on the hills risking your heart either! In answer to your question on the other post - the electric fireplace is still loaded in our escape and we're going to drive it up to the cabin next Friday. It has an oak mantle - very nice. I'll post a photo as soon as we get it set up.

Hi Shelley, I'm glad you are feeling better. I'm not a good patient and I hate being sick. I'll be glad when you can go to your cabin because I know it misses you as much as you miss it.

Glad you are feeling better. we played dominos with friends. I was going to take artichoke dip, but couldn't find my recipe. I ended up taking something that everyone liked. A brick of cream cheese covered with a jar of red pepper jelly. Crackers on the side. How easy is that? Pretty too.

I'm glad you're getting your strength back. If it were me, I would use the dish sled. It spins.

Shelley - I am glad you are recovering! please keep taking care of yourself!! There is the rest of the summer to sled, have no fear!

The scenery you showed must be calling you to sled and enjoy your cabin, and hey, what's wrong with going outside in your sheep jammies ?
I say that because in our rainy / snowy weather today I got a lot done while wearing my bright red flannel jammies with reindeer on them. Doesn't everyone have a pair of work jammies ?
