Take a country drive with us...

When we are up at our log cabin, we sometimes like to go exploring and take country drives. I'm always looking for beautiful scenes and wildlife to photograph. If you go a little further outside our town of lakes and trees, you can find some nice surprises.

Let's head down Wilkinson Road. We'll pass a ski resort along the way.

Here's a nice little creek (or river?) that we stopped to admire along the way. You can hear the stream running over the rocks and the water is very clear.

If we head over to the other side of the road, the creek continues. Still plenty of snow here in Gaylord!

As we go further down the road, we are starting to see farm pastures.

Well looky here! Here are some moo moos!

This guy actually looks pretty mellow. If you want to see a more intimidating cow I photographed at this farm, click here.

Well it looks like it's time for lunch! Let's head back to the log cabin and I'll make you some Macaroni & Cheese. Sound good?

Shelley, thanks for leaving the kind note on my blog. And let's get something straight: I'm living vicariously through YOU right now! LOL I love your cabin...it's awesome! It's the kind of place I'd like for our main home, but unfortunately hubby isn't as enamored with log cabins as I am. Bummer.

Love the pic of the cattle, hubby would love it too. He was raised on a farm! 300 acre big huge dairy farm!

Enjoy your day.

Your photography continually amazes me!! What beautiful, snow covered photos! Do you ski? The farm land and the mountains are two of my favorite places. Thanks for the pictures.

Anne - thank you!

Sandi - Glad you stayed warm! We'll have some spring & summer drives too and roll the windows down! :)

Denise - I just love those long winding roads- you never know what you'll find!

Cedar - definitely bread crumbs on the top!!

Penny - Are you tempted to move back? wink, wink!

Bobbi Jo - thank you - we feel so luck to be able to look at these views!

Deb - Can you believe that tourism is Michigan's #2 industry? I just love it here - just wish the job market was better for people.

Ginger - I love barns! I photographed quite a few this past weekend and will be posting them on my northern mich blog.

Cam - thanks and like your new profile pic!

George - I do love it! But I am ready to explore more areas - Alaska, Tenn, NC, Montana just to name a few.

April - come on over! Bring me some pies! :)

Denise - glad to find a fellow country road driver!

Pam - maybe you just got to get him inside of one of these cabins! LOL! It may be love at 1st sight!

Grammy - I am ready for the snow to go and anxious to show all of you what it looks like here in spring and summer!

Kath- a 300 acre dairy farm?? Wow! I do love those cows - something about their faces...

Judy - I do ski! We have a couple ski resorts not too far from us!

Leedra - hoped you like the mac & cheese too! I think on my last snowshoe trip you were upset cuz I didn't get you your snack! :)

Jen - I think all of the cows looked mildly perturbed to me. They were dirty & cold!

Betsy - aren't these kind of drives the best? It's so relaxing and refreshing!

Wixy - Loved that poem!! Next time I have the right photo - I'm going to have to wait to post it until I have one of your jingles to go along with it! :)

You know what? As ready as I am for spring, I'm jealous of all your snow up there! And I love those cows photos. As we were driving home this evening we passed a pasture where a few cows happened to be down by the road. There was no traffic, so I stopped, rolled down the window and said hi to them. It was so funny to watch them all look up at me in unison with dumbfounded looks on their precious faces.

I really enjoyed the ride. Thank you. Those were some big cows. The snow is so pretty. I love snow when it is white and untouched or trampled on like it is in the woods.

Seen any robins yet? I saw one this morning in our front yard. Yippee Spring must be on the way.

Love the pictures.I really do want to visit MI now. What wonderful snow & the scenery! Except for that bull.Have always been afraid of the bovine persuasion, so they can go hide somewhere. The cow pic on your other blog is ominous too...really scarey. Don't know how I got so far behind in my readding, trying to play catchup.
