Giveaway from the Log Cabin!

AMENDED POST!!! Please see newer post for extra revised giveaway. Thanks!

As you all know, I'm in the throes of puppy love right now! I get to pick up my Bernese Mountain girl on June 27th - I am counting down the days. I'm seriously tempted to call the breeder to ask her if she can put the puppy on the phone so I can say hello!

I have thought of a name and have listed the clues below. I have 2 prizes to give away from my nature store. Here are the rules:
  1. First prize goes to the first person to correctly guess my baby girl's name! Must be a U.S. or Canadian resident. No duplicate guesses!
  2. Second prize goes to the person who I deem has the cutest name for a dog that they currently own. Please list that name on this post. Only one name please!
  3. Must have a blog.
  4. Contest closes at 11:59 p.m. on June 14th. Winner will be announced on June 15th.

Here are your CLUES to my puppy's name:

  • Based on a female character in a Pulitzer prize winning book.
  • This book was published between 1955 - 1965.
  • Was made into a movie.
  • Takes place in the South.

I hope these are enough clues.....If not, I'll post more. PLEASE NOTE I am leaving for Tennessee Wed. afternoon and won't be back until Sunday so please be patient with me in case I do not have Internet access. We are going to visit one of my hubby's customers - but guess which lovely blogger ladies I'll get to meet for lunch on Friday?! Betsy & Leedra - WATCH OUT!! Shelley is coming to town......

Oh, it has to be Scout from "To Kill A Monkingbird"....
I have so many darn animals here, but the cutest name of one we have is: OZZIE. (he acts a bit lost like Ozzy Osbourne)

One of my favorite books/movies written in 1955 is Picnic.. I loved that movie (Kim Novak and Williams Holden)--but it was probably before your time. Anyhow the main female character was Madge.. Wouldn't that be a great name for your new baby?????

I'll keep thinking --of others.
Hugs,
Betsy

I am thinking Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird. Great book aand she was a great character!

I don't have a dog, but my neighbors dog thinks this is her second home. She is a long haired Chihuahua and her name is Cricket.

I can only think of "scout" too. Cute name if that's it.
My red doberman is "Zeus"

I forgot to tell you a quick story about Zeus...we had some mexican fellows working on the new roof and when my hubby called out to the lead guy "Jesus" Zeus would come running. He thought he was saying hey, Zeus. lol.

HA! So glad we finally have a name for the nameless puppy! Scout is adorable, I'm sure her baby book will be 4 volumes large, since volume 1 is well underway.

Please give hugs to Leedra and Besty for me-wish I could be there. Have Fun!!! :D

Well I have a dog named Frankenstein. He is a great dane. We named him Frankenstein because as a puppy (a HUGE puppy) he had 2 cowlicks, one on either side of his neck and they look like bolts. Come to find out, Frankenstein sure has lived up to his name!
