Cabin Progress

From the pictures, you can see the log cabin is coming along. All the doors and windows have been framed. This past week the crew completed the sanding, staining and clear coat on the interior. Tomorrow the kitchen counter top may be installed if it's delivered on time. We went with a black laminate top to match our future black appliances. Granite won't be in my budget for another year. I'm hoping the carpet guys show up on Saturday to complete the bedrooms. We purchased it from a local business around the corner. I was glad to get the carpet from them because 1. They were nice, 2. The price was reasonable and 3. They had a great dog (a vizsla)I was playing with in their warehouse while I was selecting the carpet. So in all actuality, it was probably the dog that sold me the carpet! We are driving up north tomorrow (pending the big snowstorm they are predicting) and will be sleeping on the floor of our cabin in sleeping bags. I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend.

It's looking good! By the way, if you plan to do granite in the future, there is a new product that will fit the granite right over the old countertop so you don't have to start over again. I'll find the name of the company if you want it.
Also - I am doing a giveaway on my Violetlady blog if you want to join in.

I'm wondering if the carpet guy gives the Vizsla a percentage of the sale? 'cause their loveable nature will sell you on anything!!! I'm sure he knows the dog is the best sales pitch he's got going. How funny! A vizsla will go great with your log cabin!!!!

Rio - He definitely deserves extra treats! What a great dog! I must have thrown this carpet sample piece for him to retrieve about 50 times!

Wow !!! Fantastic. My dad used to build minature ones when I was a little girl and give them away as presents. My brother-in-law used to live in one when he worked in Canada, many years ago. Finding this blog seems timely to my current favourite TV programme...ICE-ROAD-TRUCKERS.....lol....there IS a link there somehow isn't there....lol...... I can FEEL the wood as I view the pics of the Cabins...it is SO evocative. Lovely. All the best ! fungalena
