It's the little things

This weekend I realized I really enjoy the "little things" about our log cabin. When I look at the logs locked into each other, I am amazed at the craftsmanship it takes to make this happen. I get a thrill out of my rustic pine cone switch plate I found in Mackinaw city. I find it endearing how our gruff builder found and ordered the bronze shower head on the Internet to match our rubbed bronze faucet in one of the bathrooms. If you saw him - you wouldn't picture him tapping at computer keys to find this, he is 6'3 (at least!) and the person that swings logs over his shoulder with one hand. Other things such as the space above the kitchen cupboards so I can put some display items such as a plant, bird house, decorative plate or a carved wooden loon. Lastly, it was amusing (though it worried me some) to see our cat perch himself so very precariously on the outer edge of the loft floor, outside the railings - to survey the log cabin. He is now our "cabin cat." Next weekend I am ready to do some more shopping and pick up some more "little things."

Log houses are the perfect houses for cats! Our cats can just get lost in here. There are so many places to hang out for a cat, and they find them all!

Its amazing how the little things are what pull it all together. It looks great and obviously the cat loves it to.

I love how you stated it's the little things that you like about your cabin. And this is so true for anyone, it is the little things that make a house a home. These little things are what we put into it to make it our own. This is our way of putting a piece of ourselves into the places we occupy. Without these little things we wouldn't be able to distinguish one thing from the other a lot of the time.
Also I love how the cat even has steps on the outside of the rail to get to that ledge. Too cute.
