Fall weekend at the Log Cabin

The leaves are just starting to turn in Northern Michigan. The weather was perfect this weekend - it had that crisp autumn air. We went to the Farmer's market and picked up fruit and vegetables grown by local farmers. Such a bargain for fresh goods!

From our deck we could see birds migrating and people across the way having a bonfire. That reminded me - we need a firepit!

Here is our log home amongst the thinning trees.

I went kayaking and was tailgating these ducks for photos. I could hear their mom quacking in protest so I hurried as fast I could.

Here is a neighbor's house down the street from me. I love their meandering wood stairs down to their dock.

Big Greg & little Greg stacking firewood. (Should I tell them that we don't have a fireplace yet?!)

Here is Greg's growing rock collection. I can't wait to see where he plans on putting all these.

Your home looks beautiful nestled in those colorful fall trees. Those rocks would make a great fireplace!

That picture with your house and the fall colors is breath taking!! DO NOT tell them there is not fireplace - that wood will come in handy one day! I really love the rocks!! They will be nice in your landscaping.

Great phot of your house "dressed" in fall colors. I love this time of year. I think the rocks look great where they are, but what ever you decide, I am sure they will look great.

Penny - I would love to have a fireplace made of all those rocks!

Jen - thanks so much! Greg thinks those rocks look good there too but I would like to see some of them built into the slope.

Michele/Reliv - I've been looking at fireplaces at Home Depot and Lowes all weekend. Thinking about getting one of those electric ones...

Brandi - I think the colors will peak in a couple more weeks - looking forward to it!

I just love that view of your home nestled in the colorful foliage!

All those rocks...you could certainly make a very large firepit from them! And that would also save you from having to tell Big Greg and Little Greg that you don't have the fireplace yet to burn all that nicely stacked wood!

Your log home looks lovely. You really have done wonderful things both inside and out.

Bobbie - that's very nice of you to say!

Dianne - thank you! I still feel like I'm only halfway there - still a lot of things on the list...well you understand!

That top photo is breathtaking. That would make a beautiful painting by someone skilled in watercolor or oils. Wow....
