My log home really inspired me. Because I love it so much and what it represents - a connection to nature and family - I wanted to concentrate on it full time to help others make their dream come true. Yesterday was the last day at my "Fortune 500" company job. Yes - a lot of people told me I was crazy for leaving a good paying job! And I did wake up at night like a cat on the ceiling thinking "am I doing the right thing?" I have a loving & supportive husband that told me to go for it. It's not too often you get to do what you love. Plus he said "hey, Maria is out of the office next week, you can come help me." Ha! So yes, I will be helping him at his company as needed too. So today is the first day of the rest of my life!
Also, Marvin our log cabin cat has said I must have a giveaway to celebrate this new venture in my life and I agree. It's going to have to be fall related as I love fall and "tis the season." I'm going shopping today to see what I find. Stop back tomorrow for details!!
P.S. My public service announcement for today - if you are looking for a log home, please visit me at Elk Country Log Homes!

CONGRATULATIONS! I am jealous! I am ready to quit what I have been doing for the past 11 years, running my own cleaning business!
I am looking forward to the floorplans on your site, it will be nice to see what is offered. We are looking at *1,800 Sq Ft or so. My Hub thinks less, I think he's nuts! Has he seen how much junk HE has? Ha Ha!
Tomorrow we leave and I am on the computer when I should be doing other stuff!
Connie
Well, certainly congratulations are in order. I knew you had planned this. And yes, people do think you are crazy for leaving a highly paid job. Rick and I both got the crazy looks from family and co-workers. We called it retiring, yet in actuality we both quit 5 years before retirement.
I wish you the best. I know you are going make Elk Country a great success. Your love for log homes just shines and it's now it's no longer just a "job" but a passion.
GOOD LUCK !
And PS...are you living in Gaylord now, or still just visiting it for vacations and weekends???
Congrats on your new beginning! You are going to have so much fun!
Penny

I didn't have a job like you, but I did have a well paying, transcription job that I did from home and the convenience and extra money through the years of raising my kids was great. I was getting bored bored bored, fed up, hating to log in and start my day.
Two years ago I just jumped and trusted we would have the money.
