I missed my log cabin anniversary date. We've been in our log cabin now for one year! We've experienced all the seasons (mental note to self - become a snow plow driver and get very rich in Michigan)and the projects never end. I thought it would be fun to share a few photos with you from the beginning....
We had just closed on our property and they were starting to dig the basement. I offered assistance, the builder said no thank you. Ha!
It was at the end of October and the last of the fall leaves were beginning to fade away.
The logs arrived on November 9th 2007 - on my husband's birthday!
Here's the crew loading the logs onto the site. I asked if I could use the boom truck. Surprisingly they said no.
I've got windows! All the better to spy on my neighbors with! Just kidding...I think they spy on me.
The snow came! The crew was scurrying to put the roof on.
Framing the roof!
Starting to look like a log cabin. I asked Greg if we could camp in there yet - he said no. Surprising again - huh?
I'll post a few more photos later this weekend. (Unless you've already seen enough of my glory days. Let me know!) Have a good weekend!

That made me lonesome for my pictures of when we had ours built! I should dig them out!
We have been in ours for 5 years this March.
What kind is your home?
Ours is a Golden Eagle, out of Wisconsin.
How fun seeing how it all began! Your cabin and the area you live in is just beautiful.

THIS IS EXCELLENT - Happy Anniversary on living the American Dream! Seriously... no log cabin here but we did take a nice little cottage and made it our dream home / garden in the Midwest.
Time for a nice bottle / glass of Berringer 2003 Merlot - private collection. LOVE IT!!!!
Happy Anniversary.
Wow, it's fun to watch the construction process. Keep those photos comin'! Happy Log Cabin anniversary!
Gosh isn't it fun to see how far you have come?! Happy anniversary!!
I enjoyed this post. Jimmy and I have built 2 houses together and I have more pics than I care to admit during the processes.

Oh Leedra, I love seeing all of these photos. Since I didn't start blogging on Blogger until October, I missed out on all of this.... Don't ever hesitate repeating some of your great stories.

Hi Shelley:
I love seeing all your pictures. I'd like to see more, and find out how long it took them to build it, start to finish.
Congratulations on your first anniversary of your beautiful home.
You've gotten a lot done in one year.
Ginger
I would love to see more photos! What is with the guys continually saying no to you....lol! Your home is gorgeous and I know your very proud of it!
Sarah
Exciting! I can't wait to follow that path to a finished log home.
Happy Anniversary!
I have not seen enough! I did not know that you have only been in it a year. It seems to me that you have always had a log cabin because that is how I know you. Did you only start taking your wildlife photos after you had your log cabin? It seems to me that you have been taking them all of your life too, because you excel in that field. I would like more pictures of all aspects of log cabin life.
Happy Anniversary!
Your both have made so many wonderful memories here ♥ Thank you for sharing with all of us. Happy log cabin anniversary!
Yes, post more pictures. I am enjoying the refresher!
Happy Anniversary!

Not tired of the construction pictures at all. How quickly this year has flown by. And I do think you should move in year round and make a living plowing snow!
Loved that! How very fun! And MEN! They say no to everything fun!
Happy Anniversary!

Those photos are amazing! I especially love the one of you with the big machine. Awesome. Have any more of these building pics? Happy Anniversary!

That is so cool. I didn't realize how close to the beginning I was to reading your blog. Another cool fact is your logs arrived the same day that my second baby did - 11/09/07. I thought that was kind of neat. Oh I hope that someday I can see something like this happening for me.
Happy loggy anniversary! I would have been all for camping in it :)
How nice to see your cabin go up. Maybe I will come visit in the summer (o: Just kiddin...never been to that part of the world. I grew up spending weekends at my best friends folks cabin near Estes Park Colorado. Cabin...one room with a wood stove and out house, but we loved it. Played lots of board games and climbed rocks all day long (o:
Happy Anniversary in your cabin and thanks for sharing the beginnings with us. I don't understand why the building crew wouldn't let you help with the equipment, however.
